We had the good fortune of connecting with Ernest Ruffin Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ernest, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
I would honestly have to say,” that success comes to those who work for it”. It might sound kind of cliche, but I strongly believe you can will yourself to success if you work hard enough for it. Most people try to run a business and their life by doing just enough. This will only work for a short period of time in my opinion. So I get up everyday knowing that I need to do more than what I did yesterday to be successful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We believe what sets us apart from other clothing lines is the principles the brand was founded on. “We believe in creating a high quality of life in every way possible, by being unique, strong and bold. We believe Royalty is just not something you’re born into, We believe it is something you can create. We created Royalty”. To get to where we are now took a lot of time, patience and work. We have been able to build the brand from the truck of a car to an online retail with international sales. We love to take the challenges head on, we know that in every challenge there is knowledge to gain. The biggest lesson we have learned is to keep push towards your goals. You will always hit challenges and setbacks, but you have to make the best of them and keep going. Our Brand is for everyone and we believe when you wear any item from our brand you will feel like Royalty.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would most likely take them over to the shops at Legacy to hang out and over to boiling crab to eat. The next day I would take them over to IFly for a little indoor sky diving and over to eat at 54th street. And our final trip would be to Pin Stacks, Main Event and then to Velvet Taco later that night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to say God, Family and friends. My family has played a big role in why I continue to push for success and continue to strive to build my brand better each day. They have become my number one fan, but also my number one critic. My friends have been there to support and help get the brand out to the masses. I believe my success is only as good as the people in my circle.
