We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Escamilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work life balance has changed over these past few months, I’ve definitely have always been a daily planner type girl. From writing down daily appointments to work meetings all the way down to scheduling a run to the grocery store. I use my planner now more than ever, I always plan for the weeks ahead as well, it’s a must! It seems my life now is a bit busier than before but never the less as much fun. I think about work life balance daily, I catch myself up at odd hours remembering things I need to do for the following day. I often times write my notes down in my phone so I won’t forget and then put it all in my planner for a second reminder.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Chula Charcuterie started back in January 2021 during the pandemic, nothing says good snacking like meats and fancy cheeses! The charcuterie community is very diverse but what sets us apart is the love and thought that goes into each board, as each board is one of a kind and made special. What makes me most proud is hearing customers say what joy their board brought to the person they gifted it to. It is just the best feeling in the world to hear, “they loved it so much!”
As a small business owner I take professionalism very serious, I try my best to always answer any questions in detail. It’s always a goal to make the customer happy!
I can certainly say that learning is a constant thing, always trying to find new tips and tricks to make things go a lot smoother, being prepared is definitely one of those “must do” things.
What I would like everyone know is: If you’re thinking about it, just go for it, you will not be disappointed!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a local foodie, I love this question because it’s a tough one. First off Fort Worth is such a gem and has so much to offer, there is always weekly fun things to do in the area. I’d start off by having brunch at one of my favorite spots, The Social House. Hands down the best chicken and waffles, they always have the freshest juice with their mimosa carafes. I’d also recommend a few places on magnolia such as Maggies R&R and Yucatan taco stand. I love taking friends visiting to one of the local breweries such as Rahr brewing or Martin House for some afternoon drinks. Second hand brewing in the stockyards is also a fun place to hangout/grab some drinks. An end cap having dinner at the Reata and visiting the stockyards for night life. Last but not least attending a Dallas Cowboys game at AT&T stadium is a must!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my family and friends. They have and always will be my number one supporters and motivation. Without the push from them I wouldn’t be where I am today and I love them for it!
