We had the good fortune of connecting with Noah Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noah, what matters most to you?
Authenticity. Though difficult, the fruit of not comparing your work to those around you and forging your own unique style and brand is so worth it. In this stage of my career I don’t book as many family or portrait sessions, but that’s because I’m curating a look that can only be found in my work. I want an artist to look back on the work I did for them and think “That represents my personality and mission to the world in a way that I didn’t think was possible.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began my work as a portrait photographer. I still enjoy shooting street/creative portrait sessions, but I get THRILLED when I have the opportunity to work with music artists.. As a musician/producer myself, I feel I have a special connection to them & are able to tell their story in a way others would differently. I know the feeling, the longing to put creative visuals and brand direction behind a project I’ve spent half a year perfecting in the studio. And to be the creative tool that aids in the delivery of that masterpiece to the public eye is such a beautiful place to be! I’m also very keen on capturing live music events. The electricity in a venue during an artists performance is like fireworks on steroids. Capturing that momentum in a single frame leaves me speechless. Every single time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have a love for art in all mediums, and so any time a friend comes into town we visit the DMA. It’s one of the coolest, free admission museums I’ve ever been to. And as a coffee enthusiast, multiple caffeinated stops are a must. Houndstooth serves a bold espresso and pours the best cappuccino I’ve ever had, but the vibes over at Weekend Coffee are hard to beat. It’s also one of my favorite spots to sit and edit a new set of photos. As far as night life, live music is the obvious choice! Venues Parish, Stubb’s, Antone’s &@ Emo’s are among those I frequent as both a fan and a photographer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My hat tips to every single person out there in public holding a camera. Somewhere, a little kid sees you with that tripod, lens and flash and is inspired. That kid was me at the age of 9. I was a geek and the thought of combining my love for technology with the creative eye that God gave me filled me with excitement! It’s a beautiful balance of art, innovation & self expression that I haven’t found anywhere else except for behind the camera.
