We had the good fortune of connecting with Blaq Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blaq, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted a place to call home. I felt I had made a home out of some many people salons or barbershop and thought before I made anyone else great. I was going to create a shop home for myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Blaq Bailey is a barber, loctician with a great love for poetry and spokenword. Without wanting to choose between my loves I merged them all together. Making me a Barber/loctician and performing artist.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was coming into town. I would of course take them to view the shop and introduce them to the vibe I’ve created for my clients, friends and family here in the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My best friend CrisAnn Smith is my backbone. We are a perfect pair over visualization and Executor
