We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddie Paredes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eddie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks has always affected me in my life, sometimes negatively. I’ve always had a rebel bone in my body and hanging with a rough crowd and taking risks don’t mix. I ended up in trouble more than once to say the least. Taking another risk to quit my warehouse job and go full time to barber school is the best decision I’ve ever made. I tell everyone taking risks is a part of life, just make the right decisions and have a plan! “Life’s a risk”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Joining the barber industry is the best decision I’ve ever made and I encourage anyone who has ever thought about it to make that jump! I was tired of breaking my back in a warehouse job that didn’t care about me and paid me pennies. With my new found skill I can go anywhere, literally, and make money. I’m just getting started and sometimes seeing others work can be discouraging but you have to remind yourself that people come to you for a reason. I’m naturally a people person so the customer service came naturally. I get to talk and get to know all my clientele all while making them feel better about themselves, I think I got the best job ever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Arlington is always growing and new spots are popping up constantly so there’s always stuff to do. Being in between Dallas and Fort Worth has it’s perks also. Arlington has Six flags over Texas, Hurricane harbor, The Rangers stadium and the AT&T Stadium. In that area there is also Texas Live! Which is always a good time. Good food and plenty of drinks. They’re always hosting events as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A special shout out to my sister who pushed me to join barber school and helped me through the toughest times of my life. Also a huge shout out to my day ones who let me mess up their hair for months and months until I got it right!
