Meet Tania Cintrón-Moscoso | Jewelry Designer and Owner of Paomar Jewelry

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tania Cintrón-Moscoso and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tania, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that without risks you cannot achieve your dreams and goals in life. There are risks in almost every decision you make. Throughout my life, I have taken several risks with the decisions I have made. One of the most difficult ones was when we decided to move from Puerto Rico to Texas, leaving behind family, friends, my culture and career as an Interior Designer. The decision of moving came as a result from my husband’s job relocation. Once in Texas, I decided to dedicate myself to my young daughters as a stay at home mom. Now that they are older I decided to take another risk starting my own online handmade jewelry business, something that I had always dreamt of. I was concerned about whether the business would succeed or not since I started with a low budget and right in the beginning of the COVID pandemic. Luckily, my business is doing very well and I do not regret the risk I took!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always loved art and jewelry. I come from a family that has taught me to enjoy and appreciate all forms of art. Since I was little, I took art classes and my parents took me to see museums and art expositions. All these experiences developed my passion for the arts. That passion then led me to study interior design after I finished my BA in Advertising. As with interior design, where you create a living space based on your client’s needs and preferences, my jewelry creations allow me to meet my client’s style by customizing the pieces to their liking. There is nothing more satisfying to me as a jewelry designer than to see the satisfaction of my clients with my creations. My background in interior design helps me in blending colors, textures and materials so that I can create unique and artistic pieces that are not commonly seen. I tend to only create one or two of the same items so that I can keep their uniqueness alive. With having to move to a new country, learning a new language, and putting my career on hold to raise my daughters, my path to starting this business has been anything but easy. Having support from my family and friends as well as keeping a positive attitude and taking one day at a time, are what have helped me overcome such challenges. In this business, I believe you need to constantly evolve to match your clients’ needs and learn what they like. Every day I keep learning new techniques and I’m always looking for new materials to inspire my creativity. While it was not a smooth start, my resilience and love for what I do are what keep me pushing through so I can continue to make jewelry that is loved by people all over.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
These are some of the places I would take someone to when visiting this area: In Dallas, the Deep Ellum and Bishop Art Districs. Downtown McKinney and Downtown Grapevine. In Forth Worth, the Water Gardens and the Stock Yards. For shopping, Legacy West in Plano. For places to eat and to have a good time: Granite park in Plano. I like Edith’s French Bistro for breakfast and; lunch and happy hour at Union Bear; and for dinner, Bavette grill (great cocktails!). For a brunch place, San Martin Bakery in Dallas is one of my favorites. Since they are visiting Texas, there’s nothing like a great steak at Dino’s Steak and Claw in Grapevine. And finally, to relax with a glass of wine under the shade of trees, there’s no place better than the Fortunata Winery in Audrey!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The people who have motivated and supported me 100% in this venture have been my husband and daughters. I was very insecure and concerned about starting this business and they pushed me to do it. Since the beginning, they supported me by helping with the webpage design, the business name and social media accounts. My daughters served as my models and helped in promoting the business. In addition to them, the support from other family members and close friends is something I’m also grateful for. These people have always been there for me, supporting me in all my projects.
