We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Deihl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
To decide whether to keep going or give up I ask myself one core question, am I happy? There are many things in life worth pursuing, and some may turn out to be difficult to attain. To decide whether to keep working towards something, evaluate if you are still happy in that journey and intended end result. This could be regarding a career, a job, or a hobby. Personally, I have food content accounts on Instagram, Youtube, and TikTok. Do I have as many followers as I may have hoped for at this point in my timeline? No. Does creating content for and getting to interact with others through these platforms make me happy? Absolutely. So I continue creating, even if some days it is just for me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m proud to be a solo creator. All of the pictures and videos are filmed and edited by myself, which can be a challenging production at times! Being the person both in front of and behind the camera allows me to experience all parts of my work. I’m also proud of being able to extend my content onto multiple platforms, and I’m excited about the future of food news and content platforms. Although it has not been an easy journey, it has been a fulfilling one. I’ve overcome challenges so far simply with perseverance. I want people to know that my brand is focused on good food and the joy it brings to others. International cuisines are so incredible, and food is so powerful. Meals can tell a story all on their own, as well as bring people together. My focus is for my content to be authentic, to allow people to experience new places and foods, and to promote acceptance through it all.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
DFW has so many places to see! I’ve lived in the area for two years now and am still discovering places. We would absolutely eat at Blue Fish in Greenville (the best sushi spot) and Prince Lebanese in Arlington. To have the best lunch we would stop by The Hive and Sugar Bee, both under the same roof in Arlington. These places have some of the best sandwiches and pastries I’ve ever had. It wouldn’t be a visit to Texas without margaritas, and I would definitely take my friend to Pappasito’s! We would have to visit Texas Live, there are so many great photo spots both there and at Globe Life Field for out-of-town visitors. The Statler in Dallas is a great place to relax during the day at their rooftop pool, and Trinity Park in Fort Worth is great for getting some time in nature!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am today without my parents and their incredible support. They have developed my love for food throughout my life and supported my pursuit of creating food content. I am beyond fortunate to have had many incredible teachers throughout my education that have encouraged me along the way. My accounts would not even exist without my Mediterranean Cuisine instructor in Mallorca, Spain. It was her assignment to create a food Instagram that sparked this entire journey!
