We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeba Pandian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeba, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wrote a children’s book centered around guardian angels , because we lost our first daughter. The book is about what my daughter in heaven and my daughter on earth, do during the day. My daughter, Sophia, helped my write the book. We went through the publishing process together and she has helped me promote and sell the book as well. I want to show her that hard work and diligence pays off as well as what it’s like to tell your story and how that effects others. We were able to do something beautiful with our pain and grief.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I want people to know that it’s is never to late to start something new! I have been writing my whole life! In college I studied chemistry, but my chemistry notes were littered with writings and poems. Ha! I should have known then that I would not end up a chemist. What I can tell you is that your passion lies with in and once it is drawn out others will be inspired by your story. It is so important to share your story because you never know who you will touch or inspire. Someone needs to hear it!
I also want to say that we experience grief because we have loved deeply and even though the pain seems insurmountable at times, your heart will heal. The grief will never go away but you will learn to live, laugh and love with the grief. Don’t give up hope! If you are ever having a hard time please don’t be afraid to get help or reach out!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Love this question! I pretend to be a food critic so my tour would be culinary journey through Dallas where calories wouldn’t count! We would start with a late breakfast at Snooze AM eatery on walnut hill. We would then hit the Dallas Arboretum for a walk about and then head to the French Room for high tea. We would spend the rest of the day in downtown dallas walking and shopping and visiting the JFK museum. We would finish the day with a late dinner at Fearings in the ritz and maybe even stay over for a spa day the next day!!!
For a weeklong trip i would definitely go to pecan lodge, Meso Maya and even Javier’s! If you want the best steak you have to go to BOBs steakhouse at the omni!!! Drinks and dessert are a must in bishop arts!! I would even work in a day trip to waco and Austin!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to my family for walking with me on this journey, especially my coauthor and daughter Sophia. She has taught me all about resilience and grace under pressure. Her smile and hugs keep me going. I also want to thank God for teaching me about hope, love and grief and for never leaving me alone. He showed me that you can turn your pain into something beautiful. He saw me at my ugliest and brought me through. He gave me the greatest family, brother, two sisters, their family and a husband whom I adore and am humbled by his lavish love. They are my greatest treasures, even the ones in Heaven!
I would not be where I am today without my “tribe!” The people who held me up when I was tired. They are Gods hands and feet on earth!
In my recent journey as a writer, I acquired the greatest group of girlfriends. I can’t believe that I didn’t have them my whole life, but then again God knows what He is doing! We talk everyday and take girl trips when we can! They shamelessly and selflessly promote my book at no gain to themselves but simply because they are the most genuine of women! They are the kind of women that will build you up and not tear you down! Dana @39ishlife, Mia @miacarellawriter, Lauri @mamaneedsanap and Meredith @meredithmasony you are my angels! Love you so much!
