We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, what are you inspired by?
Growing up, I was blessed to have a small pocket of role models and mentors who helped shape me into the woman I am today. I knew that when the currents of life grew strong, I had someone I could call and pour out to knowing that they would fill my well with their encouraging words of wisdom. Having personal cheerleaders and counselors in my corner demonstrated to me the importance and effectiveness of having people you can draw from. One of my role models, my grandmother, Floria Jean, (now deceased) was not only encouraging but empowering. She was a woman of poise, grit, wisdom, and love. She did everything she set out to do. She loved people without conditions. She gave when she barely had. She faced a whirlwind of challenges yet kept going, and I can say the same about the other few in my corner. She never gave up. She demonstrated a level of courage I long to continue walking in. What inspires me is the very reason my fire ignites. It’s the very reason I am driven to light the torch for generations behind me.
I am inspired by her traits and those who have planted seeds of life in my life.
I am inspired by their wild courage and amazing faith in Jesus!
I am inspired by the look on a teen girl, woman, or clients face when they smile, get up, and walk tall in full confidence.
Even if I never receive a “thank you”, I’m inspired by the opportunity given.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In life, you start and you stop, then you start again. And if you stop, start again. The important thing to remember is to keep going no matter what. Why? I believe each person on this earth has an assignment, and each assignment we are tasked with includes people you are assigned to. This means that there are people within your assignment who need what you have, and if you give up, you’re not only doing a disservice to God who has given you the task, but to those He has assigned to you. Life is full of challenges, but how you respond is what matters. Either you’re going to allow the currents of life to drown you, or you’re going to find a way to make it ashore.
I’ve faced challenges. If I’m honest, many of them have been stirred by my own thoughts- a battle of the mind. But every day, when my eyes open, I choose Christ and I choose courage. I’m constantly reminded that what I do is not for me, but all that I do is for the kingdom and glory of God who sits on the throne in heaven. I’m constantly reminded that challenges will arise, but I have endurance from the Lord and wise counsel, and personal hobbies such as writing and hiking to help me overcome them.
There are many things I’m thankful for, and one of those is doing what I love. As a teen girl’s coordinator, I am a teacher/speaker who is committed to developing women of all ages using both practical and biblical truths. Every day I’m given the opportunity to teach girls (and women) what it means to live a life of wild courage, complete faith, and purpose- living a life completely dependent upon Christ. I do this through curriculum development, speaking, mentorship, and coordinating events for teen girls that positions them to become faith-filled courageous leaders of tomorrow. In addition to that, this position has opened the door to creating a Christian teen magazine called Girl Refined Mag, which helps the everyday teen girl with both spiritual and character development.
When I’m not working my 8 to 5 or hiding in my creative closet, I’m putting my administrative gifts to work thinking of strategies to help others expand and bring their dreams and passions to life through my business, Balanced Blissed Planning. Through Balanced Bliss Planning, I help my clients focus on what matters most, providing them innovative techniques to minimize procrastination and strategies that give them the freedom to breathe. You can think of me as a contracted executive assistant and productivity strategist. I specialize in executive administrative needs, creative/project management, and event coordination.
Whether I’m working as an employee or with my clients, my work allows me to do exactly what I love- revive, instill courage, help strategize, and speak life. It allows me to be hands-on and personal with those I work with within the workplace and my clients through Balanced Bliss Planning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a 29-year-old with an 80-year-old soul and so are my besties (haha), but we still like to get out and enjoy the town. If you’re rolling with me get ready for some adventure! If you’re not a morning person, then you might not hang because we’re starting the morning with a run at a Dallas park or a hiking trail in the surrounding area. When I’m not hiking or clocking my miles, I’m eating. I enjoy trying different restaurants (I’m not a picky eater) and foods of different cultures; I love a good patio spot when the sun is out or cooking new recipes for friends and family- either way, you’re going to be satisfied. And I can;t forget my love for coffee shops.
Now, let me be upfront before you all get to thinking I’m just out and about on the weekends, I’m a total homebody. Anything that requires lounging with takeout, game, or movie night- I’m for it. So a girl’s night in is always on the list.
There are moments I like to get dressed for a night at the symphony or to hear live music. If you’re into the arts like I am, you can’t go wrong with an event at a gallery.
For the most part, I like a little bit of everything. If it’s with good people, people I love, then it’s always a good time, no matter where we are.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Whew! Let me pull out my scroll because the list might be a tad lengthy. One thing is for sure, a story isn’t complete without the characters, right? I’d first like to give glory and honor to my heavenly Father, God. I also want to give a shoutout to my parents (Eric and Eunese Jones) for their life-long guidance, love and support. A few people who have really imprinted and impacted my life are June Evans, Kendrick Gholston, Joe + Tamesha Nickles, Na’Shika Tabor, Jeanette + Spencer Andrews, and Inez Jones.
I appreciate spiritual Christian leaders, such as women like Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore, who I can listen to and learn from as well.
Community is vital for me, so I’d love to say “thank you” to Shayle Nelson, Sarah Thompson, and De’Lisha Washington.
Quite honestly, I want to thank everyone who has prayed for me, poured into me, or helped support and give direction.
