Meet Vikki Winnier-Porch | Owner, Event Planner and Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vikki Winnier-Porch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vikki, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Seamless Eventz was started out of my passion for creating events and making memories for friends and family. After searching for an event planner throughout my own wedding planning experience, I realized there were so many missing details, stressful moments, and final touches that was needed, therefore I felt a need to be able to help others throughout the planning and stress of it all. At that time, I was also assisting my husband with event planning for his 3-4 private events so he suggested that maybe I should start my own business, so Seamless Eventz was formed.

What should our readers know about your business?
With Seamless Eventz, I like to focus on the actual event planning aspect, offering small personalized details, creative innovation, along with a professional candid approach. Overall, I think it is because of my work ethic and personable approach that makes the difference, which is also evident because most of my clients become my friends in the end.

It is not an easy process as each project is a totally different experience and you are constantly working with so many different personalities. However, I like to credit my professional project management and marketing experiences, which I think has given me a solid business foundation to apply my skills in creating memorable events.

There are always challenges along the way, but as with any business you have to find a way to reset, regroup, and figure out how to overcome the obstacles and keep moving. Nothing in life comes easy, but in the end, I am always grateful to be a part of some of my clients’ most treasured moments in life. With my impossibly high standards, our team will execute each event where nothing slips through the cracks. We do the hard work, so you won’t have to and our goal is to make sure your event is “Seamless”…

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So…. if my bestie was coming to town, we definitely like to hit the food places and we like to visit the trendy spots… So we would probably go to The Henry or the Happiest Hour for Happy Hour, and then of course we would check out one of the hottest restaurants downtown, True Kitchen & Kocktails.

Then for live music and hip hop vibe, we would go to Sandaga near Fair Park area and grab a cocktail from the new black-owned bar, Whiskeys, also located near Fair Park. Later, we would check out the Canvas Hotel for views, (OR) perhaps listen to some live music at the Free Man in Deep Ellum .

We love a good brunch with a patio, so perhaps we would go to St Ann’s in the Harwood District, or Chelsea Corner on McKinney Avenue. Shopping at Northpark, followed by lunch at Hillstone (I am a big Houston’s fan)!… And by then we would need dessert, so we can always stop at Chocolate Secrets for some of their amazing sweets…. We would then browse around the Bishop Arts area and check out the sites, before grabbing a pizza at Enos…! 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to give a shoutout to my husband, Jimmy Porch… because he obviously saw something in me that pushed me to take my business to the next level. He gave me my first “paid” gig and he continues to support and encourage me to this day. Also I have to shout out my support team, as it takes the entire village to pull off successful events as I cannot do it alone, they continue to support me and be there when I need them.
