We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Troy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I believe life is all about passion. I know too many people who are in jobs they hate, in college simply to make others happy, and not really focused on what makes THEM happy. So I made the decision to only do things based on passion, and I’m passionate about making music that makes people smile. It definitely gets hard, Covid and all, but there’s nothing I’d rather be doing.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always gone in a singer/songwriter fashion but I’m currently cultivating an R&B song I’m very very proud of, hopefully by the end of all of this, when it’s all released to the public, there will be a little bit of Troy Grant music for everyone, everywhere.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Bishop arts. Period. From The Laughing Willow, to Enos, to Mosaic, there’s something for everyone. Go one night and I promise you you’ll have a great time!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
March 2020 I entered this studio called Never Satisfied. Ever since then I’ve been mentored and brought up by all the amazing people that reside there, it’s not a studio, it’s a family. CEO of the company is Radio Raheem, him and I butt heads occasionally, but no matter what, he’s always had my back, pushing me to be better, everyday. Without that place and people like Jordan Waits (drummer), Casper and DieLog (producers) and my person, my ride or die, my Rib, my fiancé Nora, I wouldn’t be doing what I do today.
