We had the good fortune of connecting with Carly Alexis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carly, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
You know when to give up when all odds are against you and you have no choice but to take a new route in life. In reality you’re not giving up completely, you’re just giving up one path in life to take another which may be even better. In the end, it keeps you going.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In this day in age we are faced with many tasks that can effect our daily lives. As a mother of six children and being a single mother, no task is bigger than the love I have for my children. Considering I am the only income source in my home, working from home and managing homeschooling due to the COVID-19 crisis we are now facing, I have found daily tasks have become even more difficult. Luckily, I was blessed to still keep my job with Fidelity Investments as others aren’t so fortunate during time. I work with amazing people and the company itself care a great deal about their customers just as I do. But to hold down that position and the children at the same time has run into some road blocks. I found strength through God who keeps me going daily along with a video series I found recently that made my faith even stronger called “The Chosen”. I cannot tell you how many times I have wanted to give up and have broken down not knowing what to expect from one day to another but being the person I am, meeting new people and putting God first has kept me on my feet and my head leveled through difficult times. But Fidelity Investments has been very loyal to me and I absolutely love what I do. I have lost three loved ones in two months and have recently been struggling to find out the best path to take for me and my children. Life has changed so much for us in the year of 2020 that has been overwhelming. But when I look at my children and the job I’ve been blessed with that’s why I keeping going and I am now stronger than I’ve ever been in life. The truth is it’s easier to give up. But if you keep going you’ll be more accomplished and well grounded in the end. If I can do it alone with six kids during a worldwide epidemic and losing loved ones in between while taking on a full time job and homeschooling children anyone can. Just keep your head up and never look down.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I live a very eventful area between Dallas and Fort worth. Everywhere between you have awesome nightclubs and local bars with great music, the Reunion tower that allows you to scope all of Dallas as you eat divine food made by Wolfgang Puck. Driving 20 mins west of Dallas you can also enjoy Six Flags over Texas, Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys stadiums located all in the same area. Two awesome waterparks such as Hurricane Harbor and Epic Waters are two great family places to enjoy outdoor and indoor fun. And much more like zoos and many parks to enjoy the scenery.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
