We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“She overcame everything that was meant to destroy her.” Who knew that when I stumbled across this quote while scrolling on social media, it would become a constant reminder that no matter what obstacles presented themselves in the past, God has equipped me to to get through every single one of them better than before. I can apply this to every area in my life from personal to business to spiritual. Sometimes, in the moment I forget but it’s in those quiet times that I’m reminded of this quote.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
TAB Boutique is the place to shop for trendy accessories and apparel. We’re here to help women add the perfect touch to any outfit. When I first launched TAB Boutique, my target audience was strictly plus sized women. Over the last year, I have added accessories and smaller sizes to the site, which has proven to be a great addition to the boutique. Being a boutique owner and full time middle school teacher has not been an easy journey. It has taken awhile to develop a balance between work, business, and personal life. It’s actually still a work in progress, but I am determined to remain focused and reach my goals.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh I love this question! My best friends recently visited me in Dallas from Louisiana! First we went to a nice lounge called Sandaga 813. It’s a great spot to listen to a live band and hip hop/RnB. We got our own section, had a few cocktails, and just enjoyed the music and each other’s company. The next day we went to brunch at True Kitchen & Kocktails. The food, music, drinks, and atmosphere is amazing there. We loved it! Afterwards we wanted to go somewhere we could kick back and have a good time in the sun, so we decided to go to Bottled Blonde. The vibe there is always nice and their rooftop has lots of games to play with an amazing view of the city. Later that night we wore matching PJs, ordered pizza and played games at my home. It was a great weekend!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have THE BEST support system. My husband, family, and close friends definitely deserve a shoutout! My husband, Sheldon, is my number one cheerleader! When I get discouraged, he’s there to encourage me. When I have a great sales day, he’s there to celebrate with me. He even helps me with taking pictures, setting up equipment, and shipping packages for my boutique. He’s awesome and I’m so thankful for him. My mom, grandmother, and grandfather are also always in my corner. There has never been a time I couldn’t come to them for help, encouragement, or a laugh. They are the people who made me who I am and my love and appreciation for them is limitless. Finally, my amazing friends, Kar’Laini, Monique, Keltovise, Taja, Ashley, and Shinika deserve a shoutout as well. I have been friends with most of these ladies for over 20 years. They are more than my friends. They are my sisters! They’ve modeled, promoted, and supported my business and every endeavor I’ve ever had. I am so thankful for my entire support system.
