We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Without a doubt, passion for my art has been the most important factor of my success. Dance has never been recreational for me. When I decided at 16 that I was going to be a dancer, there was no turning back! When you are passionate about what you do, you will strive to be the best. Along the way I have experienced many dissapointments, but I am still more successful than if I hadn’t tried at all! I believe that an audience senses when a person has a deeply rooted passion for what they do. Elite Endurance Barre is inspired from my years of being an employed dancer and my dance education. People take my class for years, because they feel the difference between the experience I provide vs. an instructor who teaches multiple formats without a focus on one.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To get to where I am today was definitely a fun and exiting ride! I always led from my heart and knew that with patience, I would succeed and end up where I was meant to be! After studying dance at The University of the Arts, I danced in Chicago, Orlando and Los Angeles. I can’t imagine any of my three daughters doing that! Looking back, I had a fierce drive. When I moved to Dallas after my wedding, I carried that same tenacity into my teaching. I wanted so badly for people to see the value in this type of barre class. I live my brand. I believe whole-heartedly in the benefits people gain from my workouts. People who desire to grow from their workouts stay with me a very long time. I love that when I walk in the door people know exactly what I will be teaching!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I entertain friends from out-of-town I love showing all of the wonderful things Dallas has to offer! There is so much history, shopping, nightlife and food, it is not hard to fill a week! We would spend our days shopping, visiting the George Bush Library and Dealey Plaza! I live in Lakewood, so enjoying bike rides at White Rock Lake is a must. I would share my absolute favorite sushi in Dallas at Tei Ann and, of course, we would have some authentic Cattleack BBQ!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My “shoutout” goes to my dance teacher Robert Jaquez. He not only taught me how to move, but he gave me the confidence to go out and live my dream! He mentored his students individually, and he created a community within us that made us all very close friends. Years later, we all still support and root for each other. So many of my dance accomplishments and friendships are because of him. I still hear his words of encouragement when I start to doubt myself. He knew I was going to have a great dance career before I did!
