We had the good fortune of connecting with Candis Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candis, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I created GimmeMooreFood to highlight and support some of the best local businesses in my city and around the country. These businesses are what makes every city so special and unique. It’s our job as a community to help keep the mom and pop shops running especially during these hard times. If there’s any way to support a local business, it’s definitely by Word of Mouth or in this case, social media.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I’m not blogging for GimmeMooreFood, I work full-time at Broadcast Company. I can definitely say, my job is a God sent! I was laid off of my previous job and didn’t know how I was going to pay rent, bills, etc.. I was on LinkedIn and saw my current job was hiring, so I put in an application and got an interview that week. By the grace of God, I was hired the same day and start working a week later! 🙂 Like most jobs, it did get to a rocky start when trying to learn the ropes. I learned that you always have to be patient with yourself when starting a new job. Every job is different and it takes time to understand the ways of the land. A lot of trial and error situations but with the help of my boss and team, I was able to get through it. Also, during the layoff process, I learned to really but my trust in God and allow Him to take care of me. He really does work miracles! Fast forward 3 years, I’ve built up my confidence and it definitely shows in my work. This is hands down the best job I’ve ever had!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
There are SO many places in DFW that I love, but here are some of my favorites:

Taqueria Moctezuma – Has the best Taco Dorados!
Taqueria Los Angeles. – Has amazing Chorizo Tacos and Churros!
Ascension at the Crescent – You gotta try their avocado toast!
Whiskey Cake – The BEST Adult Mac & Cheese!
Wow Donuts and Drips – Has delicious Strawberry Shortcake Donuts!
Cake Bar – You gotta try their Caramel Cake…yummm 🙂
Lea Lea’s Daiquiri Spot – You gotta try their $5 wing basket on Tuesdays!
Bistro B – The BEST Orange Chicken in town!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My blog wouldn’t be where it is if it wasn’t for my support system, my best friend and my sister. They both encourage me to keep faith in my blog and turn it into a thriving business. Every time I post to GimmeMooreFood, I can always count on them to spread the word and support me.
