We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquise Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquise, why did you pursue a creative career?
A creative career just seems so fulfilling to me. You’re still using your brain but in a way that you’re always doing something new. I have always wanted to do something that involved creativity in some way and It’s why I use Creative in my business name because I didn’t want to be limited to just one thing. Your thoughts can be all over the place, one minute you can be capturing moments on camera and then you can sit down and write a story, and then you can craft something out of stuff you find around the house. Nothing is off-limits.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Libra Scale Creative has been steadily growing since 2013. It’s been a crazy ride mostly because it wasn’t always at the forefront of my mind. Then just a few years ago I decided it was something I really wanted to do and build and grow. I’ve been building ever since. It’s still not quite where I want it to be but I’m getting very close.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Botanical Gardens are always beautiful and Deep Ellum has so many great spots to check out. Those would be my go-to places.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and family have always been supportive of everything I do from sharing my work to sending work my way. It’s a great feeling to have people believe in you always when you don’t always believe in yourself. I also honestly feel like I wouldn’t be where I am currently without the help of Darius Wiggins, Joseph Mayer, and James Green. Those guys have helped me push myself further into my photography and break out of my shell a little more. My skills have improved greatly since linking up with them.
