We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelerick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelerick, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Operating a business and my career has taught me several lessons. One being that all so famous quote in business that “Scared Money, Don’t Make No Money”. I’ve learned that throughout the few years I have been in operation. Businesses require investment in two ways in my opinion. That is a money and time investment. Period. No matter what type of business you have you can not be scared to invest in it. Investing is not just in the products or the thing you are selling. Invest in other things that will help create longevity for your business like marketing, promotion, graphic and web design. These are the things that make your business stand out from the rest. Spend time with your ideas sit with them for a while before presenting it. Create a business plan. Two being, Not everyone will support you. Don’t let social media put a face value on your business. If you open a business and yearn for support from everybody. You probably shouldn’t be in business. People support who they want to support. Don’t look for immediate support in your business . Great longstanding businesses aren’t built over night . It takes time to truly build the success of your business. Take your time with it. Remember you are building this for you and your family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an artist/creative in a lot of ways. So many that I can’t be placed in a box. I have been singing/ song writing my whole life and creating since I can remember. I dropped my first EP 2 years ago called “Ashes EP” garnering over 80k+ streams and downloads since. We did a mini #AshesEP tour in Dallas at a few clubs in deep ellum and the city showed major love . Shout out Poor Davids Pub and The Curtain Club for having us. I recently dropped a new single called “See You Again” (feat. Te’Aire Marshae) in the midst of the corona virus and personal family losses. It can be streamed on all digital platforms. Right now currently I am working on a new LP with 15 tracks that I plan to drop with the debut on my new label. DENT. You can also expect a compilation with myself along with other Dent Artist . No official release date or titles yet. TBA I started my company Dawn Entertainment, LLC back in 2016. Hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since. WE do everything in house from studio production to video production to marketing to music distro. Since launching Dawn Entertainment,LLC I have two new business under the umbrella. Dent Graphixs which is a new Graphic Design brand. For years I have been creating digitally online for several brands and partners. From that I decided to launch my own design brand specializing in Graphic design, marketing and promo. It’s the home of the $35.00 Logo. Also offering Digital & Offset Printing In CMYK Format. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m born and raised in Dallas, TX. So its a lot of different hot spots. We are down south so you know we like to eat. It’s a few of my hood spots I would of course take them too Like Henderson chicken, black Jack, Aunt Irene’s, South Dallas Cafe just to name a few … but we have a new restaurant that everybody is raving about called True Kitchen & Kocktails for a more fancier meal. Mastro’s is another fave spot to go eat a superb steak . Now if we talking hitting the streets they must come on a Thursday night so we can hit townhouse Thursdays. I cant give y’all all of my hot spots I have to keep some for myself. Dallas has a lit artist community. We pop out support each other shows and movements. Design district, Deep Ellum and downtown are some hot spots with a lot of interesting people and places to check out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
