Meet Chaeyeon Kim | Actress & Co Founder of Syncstage Production

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chaeyeon Kim and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chaeyeon, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Together with my partner Sooyeon Yoon, I co-founded SyncStage Production to build a sustainable platform that elevates Asian artists and expands representation in the performing arts. AAPI Playlist: Volume 1, presented on January 22 at Green Room 42, marks the first installment of an ongoing cabaret series celebrating Asian musical theatre and contemporary Asian singers. Through this continuing series, SyncStage Production is committed to producing future shows that foster artistic community, create professional opportunities for Asian artists, and offer audiences greater access to diverse Asian voices and stories within the New York arts scene.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
hat excites me most about my art is the opportunity to share a raw, authentic voice that truly represents the Asian American experience. I’m passionate about telling stories that break stereotypes and resonate deeply with audiences. I’m proud to be a Korean actress who has taken lead roles in impactful productions such as Nine Shadows in Bloom (Lead: Lu) at The Chain, the Off-Broadway musical Blue Blind (Lead: Simcheong) produced by Hae Min Park, and the award-winning short film Bra Top, which has been showcased at Berlin, LA, and Portugal indie film festivals.
Together with my creative partner Sooyeon Yoon, I co-founded SyncStage Production, where we produce projects like AAPI Playlist to uplift Asian artists and create meaningful spaces for community and representation. My brand is centered on boldness, authenticity, and unapologetically telling Asian American stories with depth and heart.
Being able to build this platform and share diverse, genuine stories energizes me and drives my work forward every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d kick off with a chill walk on the High Line, vibin’ with all the cool art and city views. Then hit up Little Island to catch those fresh river vibes and snap some pics. Next stop: Chelsea Market — gotta hit Los Mariscos for those insanely good Baja-style fish tacos. Trust, they’re straight fire and perfect for refueling before more city exploring.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to my college professor, Julie Lawrence Edsell. She took a chance on me when I was a girl with zero acting knowledge but full of passion. She saw my potential and gave me the opportunity to learn and grow. Throughout my college years, she was always there—guiding, supporting, and encouraging me. She is the reason I’ve kept pursuing this career and never gave up. I truly consider her my “New York mom” and deeply appreciate all her mentorship and love that have shaped my journey.
