We had the good fortune of connecting with Dakota Deger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dakota, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, my father owned his own business from the time I was about 11 years old. Because of that, he was always able to be there for me and my siblings. It wasn’t easy—he worked late nights, weekends, and whenever the business required it—but that dedication made it possible for him to be present when it mattered most.
Now, as a husband and a father to my two beautiful children, I want to provide that same balance for my family. That desire is a big part of what drives me in my work as an electrician and handyman. Seeing the smile on a client’s face after a job well done, and helping bring their vision for a home or project to life, is incredibly rewarding. No matter how many jobs I complete, that feeling of satisfaction never fades.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a small business, my goal is to pave a path that allows us to give back as much as possible while remaining competitive to keep our doors open. My number one priority is always the customer—making them happy in whatever way best fits their needs, while ensuring every job is done safely for both the people I work for and the people I work with.
The path hasn’t been easy, but nothing worth having ever is. From taking multiple exams—sometimes more than once—such as the journeyman and master electrician tests, to constantly staying up to date in the electrical field, I’ve learned that this level of commitment is simply what it takes. Electrical work is vast and ever-changing, and having experience in commercial, industrial, and residential settings has shown me just how much there is still to learn. That realization continues to motivate and inspire me every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Growing up in the Fort Worth area with one of my closest friends—someone I still call my brother to this day—I will always think of the Stockyards. Just like the song says, “The Stockyards—yeah, it’s my backyard.” There is always so much to do, so much history, and countless memories that my friends and family have made there, with many more still to come.
From riding the bull and attending rodeos to late-night dancing at Billy Bob’s and family dinners, the Stockyards truly have it all. It’s more than just an experience—it’s part of home. And remember Yall!
God bless Texas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people in my life to thank for the position I am in today, and I want to begin where I believe everyone should—with those who made it all possible. First and foremost, I give thanks to the One above, who continually fills me and my family with grace and renews my soul each day. That faith was shown to me through my mother and my second father, who taught me love, patience, and guidance.
I also want to thank my pops for instilling in me a strong work ethic, determination, and a never-quit mindset. In addition, I am grateful to the many individuals I have worked alongside throughout the trades. I hope one day they read this, because they will know exactly who they are. I have been blessed with countless teachers, journeymen, and master electricians who not only guided me through my journey, but helped turn my dream into a reality.
To everyone I haven’t named individually but hold deep appreciation for—thank you. As one of my favorite sayings goes, “It takes a village.”

I want to give a special shout-out to a few people who help me day in and day out with work and business: Nick (my brother-in-law) and my good friend Tristan. Both are incredibly hardworking and genuinely great guys.
