We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresa Taponpanh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teresa, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Once upon a time I used to have a very unbalanced lifestyle when it came to work and life. It was 80% work and 20% life. I lived to grind. I had no choice. I realized that I was missing out on so much and needed to change it ASAP. It’s not worth it to spend your whole life working when you can make it work around your schedule.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I decided to become a hairstylist because I wanted to a find a trade that I could fall in love with. Having a career where you love what you do makes it so much more humbling. I’ve always had my eye on the beauty industry but shyed away because I was worried I wasn’t good enough. Little did I know that if you try hard enough, you can master anything you want.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend that is visiting to hidden gems tucked around the city. From watering holes, hiking, to small town eateries. I love supporting small businesses.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to always give a shout-out to by my long time family friend turned stylist sista, Debi. I’ve always adored her and her passion for her. She works hard and knows how to always walk me through situations when I’m ready to throw in the towel.
