We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mark, what do you want your legacy to be?
People often remember me as someone who lights up the room — always laughing, smiling, and bringing energy wherever I go. What many don’t always see, though, is the discipline and work ethic behind the scenes.

I take immense pride in my DJ and music production career. While I may not be headlining festivals (yet) or performing for massive crowds, the dedication I pour into my craft is unwavering. I spend countless hours refining mixes, producing tracks, and pushing myself to grow as an artist.

I’m good at many things, and like anyone, I have areas where I fall short. But if there’s one thing in my life that truly defines me, it’s the passion and pride I put into music. It’s not just a hobby — it’s a commitment, a journey, and a piece of who I am.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When people meet me, they often remember the energy I bring — always smiling, laughing, and lighting up a room. What they may not see right away is the dedication and work ethic that drives my brand, MarkEMixx.

Through the MarkEMixx brand, I provide DJ/MC services, professional sound and lighting, even photography, videography, and content creation. What sets me apart is the personal touch — I don’t just show up and play music. I take the time to understand each client’s vision and create an atmosphere that feels unique and memorable.

I’m proud of how far I’ve come, even if I’m not headlining major festivals. Every event, big or small, is a chance to give people an experience they’ll remember. That’s what excites me most about what I do.

The journey hasn’t been easy. I started with very little and had to build piece by piece — saving up for equipment, saying yes to every opportunity, and teaching myself how to balance both the creative and business sides. There were challenges, but I overcame them with persistence, patience, and the support of my family and my wife.

Along the way, I’ve learned that consistency is key, relationships matter, and success comes from celebrating each step — no matter how big or small. My brand isn’t just about music; it’s about passion, creativity, and community.

At the end of the day, MarkEMixx is more than a brand to me — it’s a way to bring people together and create moments that last long after the music stops.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, the first stop would be Texas Live!, in Arlington. As a huge sports fan, there’s no better place to kick things off — unless we could catch the Cowboys, Rangers, or Mavericks playing live. Nothing beats the energy of a hometown game.

From there, we’d dive into Dallas nightlife. Uptown is always a favorite with its mix of rooftop lounges and great restaurants, while Lower Greenville brings a more laid-back vibe with spots like Truck Yard and HG Sply Co., or anywhere with live music.

To balance it out, we’d spend a day outdoors at Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall before heading back into the city. And of course, I’d want to share my world — bringing them to one of my DJ gigs or introducing them to the local music scene.

We’d close the trip with a Sunday brunch at The Biscuit Bar or First Watch — good food, good company, and the perfect ending to a week of sports, music, and Dallas energy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Behind every small business is a network of people who help make the dream possible. For me, that credit belongs to my family and my wife. Without their love and support, I wouldn’t have the drive to keep pushing myself forward.

Every day, I watch my parents get up and give their all at work, setting an example of dedication and resilience. My older siblings have always shown me what it means to excel, motivating me to hold myself to the same standard. And my wife — she never fails to show her love and support for my music, even on the long nights of practicing, studio sessions, and late events.

They are my foundation, my motivation, and my reminder that I’m not doing this alone. Every mix, every event, and every creative project is fueled by the inspiration I get from them.
