Meet Jess Stewart | Tattoo Artist and Freelance Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jess, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Persistence has been the biggest factor in my success. I dedicate long hours to creating art in many forms and make it a point to stay active in the community through art markets and events. Showing up consistently, even when it’s challenging, and having the drive to keep pushing forward has helped me grow as an artist.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is bright, bold, and deeply inspired by my clients, my love for art itself, and my passion for all things vintage. I actually started out working in kitchens before slowly finding my way into this incredible world of art. I’ve been drawing my whole life, but I never imagined I’d be where I am today. It took years of hard work—late nights finishing projects, traveling all over the city for art markets, and putting myself out there to connect with new people. What I’m most proud of is not just the art I create, but the community and friendships I’ve built through it. I’ve learned that kindness and perseverance go a long way, and I want my story to reflect that anyone can carve their own path if they stay dedicated and open-hearted.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d keep it simple and fun—we’d grab a slice at my favorite local pizza spot, wander through an art market or two, and maybe hunt for treasures at some estate sales. I really enjoy the outdoors and being surrounded by good people, so we’d spend a lot of time just soaking up the city, exploring local gems, and making memories together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m so grateful for my family and friends. Being part of such a supportive community is the reason I’m here today. Special thanks to my former employer and friends at Everything Ellum for introducing me to an amazing community of artists, and to Studio Mars, where I am now—thank you for opening a door I never thought could be opened and for helping me get to where I am today.
