We had the good fortune of connecting with Atiyana Castaneda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Atiyana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
The way I think about risk is not in a bad way, I think of it as a opportunity. If I would of stayed scared and afraid to take the risks I have took, I would not be where I am at today. Taking risks has played a HUGE part in my life , I quit my 9-5 which was walmart at the time with little money sitting in my bank account , and I took the risk to quit and focus on doing Content And Nails FULL TIME. I was more than nervous but if I would have never took that RISK, I would of never seen the growth I have gained within these years.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It all started when I was 11 I really wanted to get my nails done… but my mom didn’t let me because I didn’t have the money for it. I decided to go to target and get one of those starter acrylic kits, which didn’t have much supplies to do an actual nail set. As soon as I got home and I did those nails I fell IN LOVE!! The next day my grandpa took me to the Nail store where I bought about $300+ worth of nail supplies to start doing press ons, acrylics and poly gel nails. Ever since then I have took break but I NEVER GAVE UP. I started a Instagram back when I was about 13 but I deleted the page and started new, which is now @atiyanathetech. I also started posting videos on YouTube and that changed the whole game for me. Not only did I enjoy doing nails but I also started making videos of me doing nails to show my process even if it wasn’t the best. I took YouTube 100% serious and I gained over 70,000 subscribers within 2 years of posting consistently on my page. Now I do nails and content full time. This whole process was not easy.. I went through a lot of sad times and days I wanted to give up, but I never let those thoughts get too deep in my head. I started my nail business all from a kit from target and now I am taking clients everyday and posting about it on YouTube which was my dream all along!!! I have always recorded videos on YouTube since I was 11 but I didn’t think too much about it, until I was thinking of ways I could become bigger and better.

Doing nails didn’t only just “ give me something to do when I was bored” . On my worst days doing nails and drawing French tips and doing designs and filming it made me feel so much better. When I pick up my brush and camera I feel happy , motivated and proud.

I have learned a lot of lessons along the way. I learned that I can’t be scared of something I have never done before like content for example. I was scared and too worried about what other on social media would think about me. I was worried they would make fun of me, And I was also worried that this was just a waste of time. I kept myself motivated and decided to step out of my comfort zone because if you can’t step out your comfort zone you won’t learn new things. I also learned that strangers will support you more than your own friends/ family.

I am so proud I took that risk of being a content creator and a nail tech full time , I would have never thought that this was the plan GOD had for me all along. I am super excited to continue to grow and work as hard as I can until I become the best version of myself that I can be!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Now if my friends were here to visit I would take them down to Grandscape here in texas. I would also take them to the mall of course because we are just girls , let’s go shopping and spend all our money on clothes and food lol. I would also have to take them to cheddars which is my favorite restaurant , you can’t go wrong with that fried shrimp and bourbon glaze. Down town has almost everything! We would have to go bowling , book a AIR BNB and get lit!! I’m not really a club/ party type of girl… so I don’t really know any good clubs or huge events , but who knows .. when the girls are over we can get lit anywhere here in Dallas

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to say that thanks to GOD I would of never been here. Little 11 year old me would of never thought I would be here. I want to thank my family , they always had hope that one day I could make it. My mom always would tell me to never give up even when I was on the verge to quitting everything. My uncle Lorenzo has never ever gave up on me, he healed me through the most darkest moments and even today he akways tells me how proud he is. My grandma & grandpa did the most and helped me with supplies and tools when I first ever was starting. And all my supporters that always like my videos and share my content and all the clients who booked me and tell others about me, I want to thank THEM SOO MUCH!! Nails and Content has been something I have always enjoyed and all you guys mqde my dreams come true🥺
