We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Craig and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I grew up around Hairstylists, My grandmother, Aunt and Uncle all were in the hair industry while I was growing up. I literally lived and breathed hair from an infant to now. Growing up in a space of creativity not just in the hair industry but in all aspects. Both my grandmothers are seamstresses and artists in their own right. My father also a man of many talents and art forms. I found love in art of hair and color!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When you’re a teen you’re pressured to figure out what you’d like to do right out of school. Originally, hair wasn’t my first choice, it was my quickest. Not as much school and I could work as a stylist while trying to work toward my first choice. I wanted to be a high school band director, but God has a funny way of showing you exactly where you’re supposed to be. I was put in complicated situations which led me to be only putting 100% into being a hairstylist. I’m thankful for my career and how I’ve grown as a person and in my art. It was a hard journey of growth and learning and failing. I accept I’m not the perfect hairstylist there’s still so much I want to learn and do. Over time though I’ve gotten more and more comfortable working outside the box of my run of the mill basic services. I have so much love for what I do and those who do what I do. It’s hard work, on the mind and body. Learning and growing with my clients has been the highlight of my career.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Azle is small, it’s growing but still not alot here. My go to spots are the Antique Mall off 199 that I grew up going to, the Your Natural Healer shop off 730 South this shop is a crystal and reiki store owned by a local and it’s amazing. Next stop would have to be Rabid Retro Gaming, I spend as much time there as I can, it’s a local owned retro gaming shop that has so much to offer and I’d spend more money there if I could!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandma, Vicki Jetton, for taking part in raising me to be kind and stubborn and I’d like to thank Kathryn White, my mentor turned Best friend who grew me as a stylist and as a person even now.
