We had the good fortune of connecting with Vandana Khosla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vandana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always believed a home should tell a story—one of heritage and craftsmanship. Growing up, I was surrounded by the artistry of Indian textiles and jewelry, yet in the U.S., I saw a gap—mass-produced decor but no soul.
Karavan Creations was born as a bridge between tradition and modernity, bringing handcrafted Indian decor and jewelry to a global audience while empowering artisans. It wasn’t just about starting a business; it was about reviving lost art forms and ensuring they thrive in contemporary homes.
Doubts were there—Would people choose authenticity over factory-made perfection? But the moment a customer told me, “Every time I wear your jewelry, I feel connected to something bigger,” I knew I was on the right path

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The Art of Karavan Creations: A Story of Heritage and Craftsmanship
At Karavan Creations, art is more than aesthetics—it is a conversation between tradition and modernity, between the hands that craft and the hearts that cherish.
What sets Karavan Creations apart is our deep-rooted commitment to authentic Indian craftsmanship. In a world of fast fashion and factory-made décor, we bring stories, souls, and centuries-old techniques into people’s homes. Each piece—whether it’s a hand-embroidered textile, a stunning silver necklace, or an intricately carved wooden artifact—is the work of skilled artisans who have inherited their craft through generations.
But this journey wasn’t easy. Breaking into a global market while ensuring fair wages and sustainable practices was a challenge. Many artisans were on the verge of abandoning their craft due to a lack of appreciation and financial stability. Convincing them that their work was still valued and had a place in modern homes took time, trust, and perseverance.
One of my proudest moments was when an artisan told me, “For the first time, I don’t feel like just a laborer. I feel like an artist again.” That reaffirmed my belief that this work is not just about selling products—it’s about revival, empowerment, and preservation.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned? Patience and purpose win over speed and trends. In a time when businesses focus on what sells fast, I choose to focus on what lasts. I want the world to know that behind every Karavan Creations piece is a human touch, a rich history, and a commitment to keeping heritage alive.
Our work is about making art personal, meaningful, and timeless. And if that means taking the road less traveled, then so be it—because true artistry deserves nothing less.
