We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Hampton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to taking risks I always think about looking back on my life when I’m older. I think about whether I’d see me never taking risks and staying stagnant or following my gut and seeing how it turned out.

So now when my gut says that it may be scary, but it feels right I follow that feeling. I moved to a new state and didn’t know anyone, I’ve started new careers and took chances on so many other opportunities. I’ve seen success and failure in all I’ve done, but the one person I can always count on is me.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner and CEO of my small business Kelsey Noel Creations. I am a crochet fiber artist who makes plushies, decor and wearable pieces. I try to make pieces that are soft, cozy and that people can connect with.

I built my business slowly over time, and am still working on growing it every day. It hasn’t been easy and still isn’t always easy. I am working on growing my online sales and that requires a lot of my time. But as a business owner working on finding the magic formula to find your customers takes time. I’ve learned to research and find markets that are great for my niche. But being a successful business owner takes time and patience.

I hope people know that no matter how hard my job gets I’m so happy to be doing what I’m doing. Being creative and making items that make people smile is why I do what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love so many spots in DFW. I would most definitely take them to Delucca, Stock and Barrel, Jenis Ice Cream and Hunkys. We’d explore all of Bishop Arts and Lower Greenville since those are my favorite areas!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my husband! He continues to be my rock through the roller coaster that is being a small business owner. He always supports me and keeps me going.
