We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Fakhari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Over the years, my work-life balance has evolved to prioritize my family, while still achieving success in my real estate business. Since becoming a broker and owning my business in 2019, I’ve been able to homeschool my children for 14 years, which has allowed me to be present in their daily lives. Balancing this with managing a team of six agents has been fulfilling. My family is at the center of everything I do, and having God as the foundation of our lives has made it possible to maintain strong relationships and thrive in both my personal and professional life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am incredibly proud of starting Gather Home Realty from the ground up, taking the leap to build something of my own. The journey hasn’t been easy, but the hard work has been worth it. I started as a realtor working for larger brokerages, but I wasn’t growing in the way I wanted to. As a homeschooling mom, I needed to contribute financially, and the traditional commission structures at big companies weren’t working for me. So, I decided to create my own path.

Starting my business required countless hours of dedication, from prospecting new buyers and sellers to competing with well-established brands. It wasn’t a smooth ride, but the challenges fueled my determination to build something unique. I’m most excited about having created a space where agents on my team can thrive, grow, and build their own careers.

Gather Home Realty is different because we are a boutique brokerage in the DFW area, small but mighty. My mission is to support my agents fully, offering a flat commission split to ensure they can succeed without the typical pressures of large companies. One thing that truly sets us apart is our hands-on approach: when you begin a transaction with Gather Home Realty, you finish with us. We aim to make the entire process seamless, from start to finish, and beyond the sale.

We’re not just about transactions – we’re about putting heart into homes and bringing families together to gather. This is the core of our brand and story. It’s about more than business; it’s about building a community, one home at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting DFW, I’d kick off the trip with a day exploring Fort Worth’s Stockyards. We’d start by grabbing lunch at Joe T. Garcia’s, soaking in the Tex-Mex vibes, then stroll through the historic district, watching the cattle drives and popping into the museums nearby, like the National Cowgirl Museum and Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. In the afternoon, we’d hit the Montgomery Street Antique Mall for some prime antiquing before heading to Canton’s First Monday Trade Days, a must for vintage treasures.

For a quieter experience, we’d take a scenic day trip to McKinney, TX, and Granbury. We’d stay at a cozy B&B, catch a show at the Granbury Opera House, and wander the charming town squares. If it’s the holiday season, we’d visit the Christmas markets, sipping hot cocoa as we window shop.

In the evenings, we’d enjoy laid-back dinners at Flying Fish in Fort Worth for fresh seafood or opt for something more local like Lonesome Dove for a steak dinner. All along the way, we’d discover local gems, relax, and embrace the best of the area’s unique character and history.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family, especially my parents, whose unwavering support and encouragement have been a constant source of motivation in my journey. They taught me the value of hard work and perseverance, showing me that success doesn’t come easily but is worth the effort. Their kindness, dedication, and belief in me have played a crucial role in my pursuit of owning my own business. I am also incredibly thankful for my own family, whose love and help have been invaluable along the way. I am truly grateful for their constant support and for always being my biggest cheerleaders.
