We had the good fortune of connecting with Elisa Pena and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elisa, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This is really important to me. I always want my family to appreciate the importance of my work and creativity but I never want them to feel like they have to compete for my time. This is hard to navigate sometimes but being really focused and learning to say no sometimes is a key factor to me. If I stretch myself too thin, I’m not any good to anybody. You have to establish healthy boundaries to create a nice balance.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love to say “my small business” but truly, the goal is to be much larger! To not just be a small business but always keep that small local business intimate feel! I have always worked in the service industry. In fact the service industry taught me what I am most passionate about. Which is serving others. I believe this is what sets us apart, I truly cherish every single order. I don’t just see orders as dollar signs, I see them as a way to make people happy and pleased while enjoying a nice meal/snack that I got to create with my own hands! I worked for Joe T. Garcia’s for many many years and I learned the importance and value of personal connections with your clients. I want to always maintain a personable connection with each and every client I come across and that alone will always set us apart.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am such a sucker for being cozy at home when I am not working. I love to surround myself with my family and friends at home! However, if it was my job to entertain I would definitely take them to grab a morning coffee or mid day pick me up from Amperstand coffee for sure! Lunch or dinner at Joe T Garcia’s to check out the garden and have a margarita for sure. Depending on the season maybe catch a TCU game. I’d take them for a walk around clearfork and do a little shopping! Maybe check out our museums and go over to the Botanic Gardens!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, there are truly so many people in my life who have supported me, encouraged me and root for me every single day. My husband, my parents, my in laws and my kids are my biggest supporters! They truly root for me and do anything / everything I need them to in order to help me succeed. I have had a mentor in my life for over a decade now who has always believed in me. I have always looked up to this man and I have always strived to make him proud, David Rubinson- a TCU LEGEND. Additionally, I think it’s very important to only have people in your life who push you to be better & support you no matter what.
