We had the good fortune of connecting with Sammi St.John-Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sammi, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand, FishBowl Radio Network, is that I always remain humble and grateful. Success is defined differently by each person. For me, success is when you identify your gift and turn it into your purpose. That is what, I have been able to accomplish from a very early age. In addition, to remain successful, you can not do it alone. So, the people that help you along the way are very important. It is instrumental to have a team that believes in your vision. And, lastly it is paramount for me to use my gift to serve others. When you serve others through your gift, success is inevitable.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
FishBowl Radio Network was established in 2009. After a 30 + professional radio broadcasting, voice-over and speaking career, I decided to open my own global Internet Radio Station. No one had quite done it like us and today we have served hundreds of broadcasters, pod-casters, voice-over artists and more though our platform. I think what sets us apart from others is: we were the first, we offer the most services to support our broadcasters, we the best facilities located in Globe Life Park, we are owned and operated with someone (me) with tons of experience and knowledge, we have the best team in the industry and our hosts are achieving things they never dreamed of because of FishBowl Radio Network. I am most proud that in serving others with my gift, I have seen others flourish and obtain goals that they did not think they could. I got to where I am business wise, by working hard, taking calculated conservative risks, understanding budgeting, and staying true to the vision, God put in my heart. It was not easy but it has always been fun. The way I have overcome challenges is to understand that they are necessary to help me grow and be a better business owner and leader. I welcome obstacles because each one that is overcome comes with a life lesson and takes us to the next level once we overcome it. I want the world to know that FishBowl Radio Network is more than just a place to host radio shows, we are radio 4 a reason. We use the power of the mic to help the community, nation and the world, in various out reach campaigns that we do thorough the last 11 years.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well since I live in the Grand Prairie, Arlington area, I would take them to, Globe Life Park where FishBowl is located. This stadium is so beautiful. We would walk across the street to see the new ballpark and then go eat at one of the great restaurants inside Texas Live. As a big sports fan, I would take them on a tour of the Cowboy stadium too and dinner at the Highlands off of I-20 at one of their great places would end the night.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have been a part of my 30+ year radio broadcasting journey. It would take a book to give credit to everyone. So, I’ll keep it to the most influential. First and foremost, GOD, to whom I give all glory and honor too. HE spoke to me very clearly about my purpose and my company. Secondly, my parents, Mr. Marshall and Carmen St.John. I can go on and on about how their sacrifices, love and support is unbelievable and there is no way I would be where I am without them. My siblings: Marcia, Tony and Michelle, have always been supportive of my dreams. My husband Miguel Martinez is truly the wind beneath my wings and I could have never ever achieved what I have without him by my side. My children, Angelo and Carley and my grandchildren, Audri and Jaden, are my inspiration and motivation to continue to build a legacy for them. And, my radio broadcasting mentor and friend, Mr. Elroy Smith, who believed in me when I was very young. His mentorship and example have been invaluable to my broadcasting success.
