We had the good fortune of connecting with Carson Aday and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carson, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
When I first started writing music, I was given the advice to only write lyrics that I had personally experienced. Taking this to heart really limited my writing as a 18 year old boy raised in the suburbs of Dallas. Eventually I broke out of that constraint and found some really beautiful lyric from scenarios I heard about or just tapping into my imagination.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Standing out as an artist in 2024 is incredibly difficult. The internet is flooded with talent, and even buskers on the street corner often display immense skill. If one of my songs can brighten someone’s mood, or give them a space to process their negative emotions, then in my book I’ve found success. There’s a lot of phenomenal artists that achieve this, and I’d just love to get lumped into that crowd.

I’ve spent a lot of time being burnt out from making music. Throughout the process of creating, you end up investing a lot of hope and love into your music, and when it doesn’t perform how you hoped, it’s pretty crushing. Remembering where you came from and the reason behind your art is essential to keep getting back up again.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents have always supported me pursuing my dreams. Even as I dropped out of college for my first tour, they continued to encourage my passion for music. From buying my first guitar to driving me home so I can sleep after shows, they’re always there.
