We had the good fortune of connecting with Cecilia Esquivel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cecilia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk to me is putting trust into yourself. Oftentimes, when we take risks, we fear failures. Failure is part of growth, and if you’re taking a risk by doing something you’ve never done before, you quickly get used to failing. I have become aware of negative self-talk around not instantly succeeding and started to rephrase my thoughts around mistakes. I find failure to be critical to growth and have learned to become my number one supporter through failures and mistakes.
Risk has led to many failures but way more growth. I love to fail fast, learn, and continue growing; in life and in business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Although I love the Fashion-forward Styling, Personal Styling has my heart. I love connecting with women from all walks of life investing in themselves through personal style. Everyone has different motivations for wanting to upgrade their style and I work really hard to make sure every outfit, every shopping session, and their wardrobe represents the beautiful person they are.
Changing someone’s habits around their self-care and personal brand is something I’m really proud of. I want everyone to know that I want to positively impact their lifestyle through personal style. I like focusing on helping someone when I’m stressed in my business. It fuels me to tackle each new client with a creative approach to style.
I love providing a customized experience to each client and approaching each client through a unique creative lens. Each new client is a new set of factors I get to work with in creating outfits and allows me to keep learning about fashion.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Italian food – I recommend North Italia downtown for dinner/drinks. I’m a huge Frida Kahlo fan so I’d take a friend out to the DMA to check out her collection.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The entrepreneurial lifestyle is not an easy one. Friends and mentors like Amy Anderson, Edna Palacio, Tiffany Forsberg, Sarah Jones, Sara Bannat, Lindsay Nicholas and so many more have been in my corner countless times.
These women have always supported me when I had questions and lifted me up. I’m so grateful to have them in my life.
