We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Jouett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The inspiration to start my own business stemmed from a lifelong passion for nail art and press on nails, which began in childhood. My parents nurtured my creativity, even when it led to mishaps like spilling nail glue down my leg at the age of 7 years old. Despite an early dream to become a nail technician, I faced discouragement from those who doubted its potential as a fulfilling career. Consequently, I set that dream aside and pursued other interests.

My current profession of Audiology doesn’t accommodate the practicality of long acrylic nails, leading me to rely on press-on nails for special occasions. The manipulation of small hearing devices, I had to retire my every day long nails. This limitation sparked a realization: there was a market gap for salon-quality, reusable, press-on nails. Thus, Nailed It was born.

I then coined the term “Clinic-Friendly” to represent a shape catering to professionals like myself, who desire stylish nails that are suitable for the workplace (or those who like a more natural nail look!). This venture is a blend of my two passions, and I’m excited to offer a product that allows others to express themselves with ease and flair. I believe that Nailed It not only fulfills a personal dream but also meets a unique need in the market, and I’m eager to see others enjoy these creations as much as I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional journey to becoming a clinical audiologist was far from easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. The eight years of academic rigor required dedication and perseverance. The challenges were numerous, from the intense study to the practical application of knowledge. Yet, the opportunity to enhance people’s lives through improved communication has been the ultimate reward.

Hearing loss can profoundly impact one’s quality of life, leading to isolation and frustration. As an audiologist, I am committed to mitigating these effects and empowering individuals to connect with their world more fully. The lessons learned along the way are invaluable: patience, empathy, and the importance of clear communication are paramount.

While audiology and nail art may seem worlds apart, I’ve discovered a unique intersection between the two. My brand represents this fusion—offering a line of “Clinic-Friendly” press-on nails for professionals who, like me, seek a balance between personal expression and professional constraints.

I want the world to know that my story is one of passion meeting purpose. It’s about not limiting oneself to a single path and finding harmony in diversity. My brand isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about providing solutions that cater to the multifaceted lives of my clients. It’s a testament to the idea that with creativity and determination, you can build bridges between seemingly disparate interests and create something truly unique and meaningful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Dallas for a week, I’d take them on a food tour of the city. We’d start with early lunch at Cris and John, followed by a fun walk on Katy Trail or walking around Klyde Warren Park. For dinner, we’d enjoy Delucca’s and catch a Dallas Mavericks game. Most of our activities would be centered around food and finding hidden gems in Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the journey of pursuing my passions and establishing my business, I’ve been fortunate to have a constellation of support that has kept me motivated and grounded. I want to extend my heartfelt shoutout to my family, whose unwavering belief in me has been the bedrock of my resilience. My friends, who have been my cheerleaders, offering encouragement and joy in every step. And my “Nailfriends,” those who have purchased sets of nails or shared new ideas for growth within my business, have been a source of inspiration and motivation.

Most importantly, I dedicate this shoutout to my late mother. Her spirit has been a guiding light throughout my adulthood. Although she couldn’t witness me achieving my doctorate in Audiology or see my business flourish, her teachings and memories have been a constant source of inspiration. Her legacy lives on through my accomplishments, and every milestone reached is a tribute to her memory. Her influence has been instrumental in shaping the person I am today, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
