We had the good fortune of connecting with Karla Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I didn’t think I would end up as a business owner. I decided to enroll into lash school to do lashes as a side hustle, eventually my clientele grew and I was able to earn a full time income lashing from home. I rented a chair from a local salon for about a year. An opportunity to become a lash instructor presented itself. I took it and enjoyed sharing my knowledge with other aspiring lash artist. The experience inspired me to open my own lash academy.

What should our readers know about your business?
Romero Beauty Academy is a TDLR Approved cosmetology school specializing in Eyelash Extensions. Here you are learning from an experienced lash artist who has gone through trial and error to perfect her craft and is now able to pass down her knowledge to others. Not only do I help you sharpen your skills and prepare you for your state exam but I also focus on each individual student to ensure that they reach their full potential before graduating. I teach them my secrets. I bring in lash models and walk my students through the process of a full lash set. I make them aware if something is not being done correctly and show them how it’s properly done. I am a very hands on, I believe that is the best way to learn. I don’t usually toot my own horn but these few weeks I have seen my hard work pay off, my first student is set to graduate this month and she’s leaving our academy with full knowledge of the lash industry. Her work performance amazes me and makes me proud of the instructor I am. It definitely shows that I am doing an exceptional job and that amazing lash artist are being made at Romero Beauty Academy. This journey has not been easy but all I can do is continue to push harder and give 100% every day. Don’t compare your story to anyone else’s because everyone situation is unique. I want everyone to know that my brand has been created with passion and dedication. Our brand is committed to making a positive impact on each student that crosses our doors. We are ready to create successful lash artist and business owners. We believe that by sharing our story and values, we can connect with others who share our vision. Our journey is just beginning, and we are excited to see where it leads us next!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Fort Worth we definitely have some very fun places to visit. Downtown is full of fun activities! From shopping to a variety of restaurants. You can even take a walk around Sundance Square and grab your favorite drink from Starbucks! A place you must stop by for breakfast would be Yolk it’s delicious! If you’re looking to have more of a relaxing day you could always do some shopping at Target, Marshalls and much more all located at Montgomery Plaza.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my family for the support they gave me throughout my journey. I owe my mom a huge thank you because she has been my biggest supporter. My kids give me the strength to keep going when things get rough.
