Meet Kamryn Lovett | Makeup Artist & Licensed Esthetician
We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamryn Lovett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kamryn, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue a creative career mainly because the arts give me fulfillment. As a little kid I’ve tried all kinds of sports and flipped between different career fields throughout high school, but always found myself coming back to the arts. Once I discovered what jobs I could have as an artist, I immediately worked to pursue it and I never looked back.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’d say my art and abilities are like a spectrum and that’s what sets me apart from others. I’ve developed my skills in a variety of mediums such as special makeup effects, glam makeup, costume making, hand painting, airbrushing, and much more. I don’t like to put a limit on what I can create, and if anything I love to expand my knowledge and try new things.
Getting to where I am today didn’t come easy to me. I grew up as an art kid in a family of smart and academically talented people (but supportive) so finding my passion and place in the world was long journey. I faced all kinds of challenges like “Where do I learn this? What school will work? Who do I need to contact?” and a ton of self teaching. But after all the hard work and dedication I am very pleased with where I’m at today, considering I’m only 20 years old.
I want the world to know that I am extremely passionate about my craft but also humble. I know I have much to learn and develop, but I crave for the opportunity to bring ideas to life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am from the vibrant city of San Antonio, and those who are from here would say the culture and history is very rich. If I were to show a friend around, I’d go to a couple of places! The riverwalk downtown for some fun restaurants and entertainment to start. I’d take them to North San Antonio to La Cantera Mall for a shopping spree, maybe see a movie at the huge theater ‘Palladium”. But if they really want some Texan-Hispanic culture, there is a ton of family owned authentic restaurants, shops, and celebrations. Not to mention the handful of missions and haunted-historical attractions that surround the outskirts of the city!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out a couple of people! Starting with Stryde Studios, Jackson Kibby Productions, and Simply Rosy Productions for putting their trust in me and my work to bring me on board to their films. They are the reason I’ve gotten more attention and recognition towards my craft. I also want to shout out my family and close friends for constantly showing love and support towards my career. I haven’t given up on my passion because of their encouragement.
