We had the good fortune of connecting with Talia Corrine Maddock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Talia Corrine, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The single most important factor to my success has been a deeply woven relationship with God. I will start with giving credit where is due first before I take any credit or offer any advice. My journey to success has been messy, bumpy, imperfect and filled with many learning lessons. The constant, has been a deep knowing in my bones of what brings me unharnessed joy and fills me and my spirit with a sense of belonging and this voice that runs through my body when I am creating and designing a space whether that is a home, a restaurant or commercial space, that says, “you’re doing exactly what you were meant to do”, and almost always moves me to joyful tears at the conclusion of a project.

For your readers that want to know some concrete steps to my success, I start each day spending quiet time on my morning walk, talking to God, praying for my kids, my marriage, my family, and MY BUSINESS. I ask God to move my feet the direction He wants me to go and thank Him for enlarging my territory, blessing my business and opening doors for me. The biggest piece of advice I can share is to be authentically yourself, and just show up. Show up authentically and just start. Start messy, start without knowing it all and know no one is going to do the thing you are passionate about the way YOU DO IT. There are millions of talented, creative people, some of them are already doing the thing that you are curious about or feel like you could do, but they won’t do it the way you will, so tell your story. Share your story and talent. They often go hand-in-hand. Success always follows authenticity, grit and knowing you belong. Action and effort compounds and the result is a successful brand and business.

I worked full-time for 10+ years in Business to Business sales, most of that in Lab Diagnostics sales while growing my Design business on the side. My full-time work afforded me the opportunity financially to take risks in my business and invest as I grew. As Talia Corrine Interiors grew, organically, through word-of-mouth, Instagram and social media, from porch decorating for Fall and Christmas to full home renovations, and beyond, eventually I had to invest in professional branding, logo design and website development. I knew the moment that my little Etsy logo, and no website had taken me as far as I could go and I knew it was time to invest. My work was attracting high profile clients and celebrities and my brand needed to reflect that. I share this with your readers so they know, it is a process. It is incredible to see how God weaves ALL the pieces… ugly, small, scary, grand, the successes, the embarrassments, the failures and the victories of your life together and the result is a business and brand that you are not only proud of but has purpose and makes an impact. Talia Corrine Interiors, LLC eventually outgrew my sales career and to this day boasts a multi-million dollar portfolio of work completed.

What should our readers know about your business?
Talia Corrine Interiors is a full-service interior design firm based in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. We are wildly passionate about creating spaces that are elevated, conversational and where life’s richest moments are meant to take place. We believe the essence of interior design is about people and how they feel in a space which, in turn, affects how they function in a space. We design Organic, Nature Inspired, Elevated spaces to capture the spirit of our clients. We create and design spaces, offices, hotels, homes, restaurants, and spas that encourage and promote a sense of well-being. A place that allows for healing, comfort and to just be. With over a decade of experience designing residential and commercial spaces we assist clients with a wide-range of challenges. From new construction, remodels to room refreshes, we are the go-to design firm for fresh, timeless and unique design. We collaborate with architects, contractors, builders and our trade-only vendors and showrooms to bring our clients incredibly distinguished and one-of-a-kind spaces.

We are OBSESSED with changing how people FEEL in a space. We call it healing spaces through design. Design can be intimidating and overwhelming for many people, but our clients come to us because we have a reputation for being kind and approachable. We are known for our originality and creating calming, layered spaces that tell a story and evoke emotions. We scour and source decor and furnishings from all over the world, bringing uncommon beauty to our clients. Talia Corrine Interiors is most proud of the hundreds of small business owners, artists, and artisans our firm uses in each project. This serves several purposes, 1. we are supporting other creatives in our community, both locally and across the world, 2. we bring eyes to their work, which increases their business and visibility, and it ensures our clients are getting one-of-a-kind pieces that cannot be replicated. In our most recent million dollar restaurant project we collaborated with over 50 small businesses, local businesses, independent artists and makers and the result is a STUNNING restaurant. Almost all of the lighting was custom and handmade. TCI is launching a custom lighting line which will further offer our clients unique, thoughtfully designed light fixtures that cannot be found anywhere else.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Easy! We love taking our friends and family to the Stockyards in Fort Worth. We walk around, immerse them in the rich history of Fort Worth and the stockyards, catch the cattle drive, pop in the Drover Hotel, for drinks and if it is Christmas time, you do not want to miss their Christmas tree and decor. It is stunning! Of course Joe T’s is a must see for any guest to our city. We always plan a dinner there to experience the power of ambiance and great atmosphere. We usually take our family to the Benbrook Stables for an afternoon of horse back riding and pop into the new Rockfish Seafood Grill off Camp Bowie Blvd in Fort Worth. The food, atmosphere and service is incredible! Depending on the time of year, sometimes we take them to see a Rangers or Cowboy game and check out the Texas Live area and all it’s excitement!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have the most loving and supportive family. From my precious, beautiful daughters, Makayla and Kinley, to my loving husband, Mark, they are the backbone of my career. They see the growing pains, the insecurities and all that goes with being an entrepreneur and business owner and they are my biggest cheerleaders and hype team. Both of my daughters, (Makayla 26, Kinley 23) have worked on almost all of my projects and offer valuable insight, and incredible advice. My husband makes me believe I can achieve anything I put my mind to and lets me know he is always there to catch me if I fall. Growing up my mom, Kathy, was and still is the most creative and incredible decorator. She makes any room feel cozy, warm. and inviting. Truly, she is an undiscovered gem of effortless talent in creating beautiful, layered spaces and she still is to this day. Growing up my mom made sure our environment was rich in creativity. She would take my sister, Amber, and I to Goodwill and give each a few dollars to buy what we wanted. Our imagination was endless. We would buy high heels, random oddities, and come home and setup the most extravagant make-believe restaurant, with rooms all decorated differently, and play for hours. My sister, Amber, is my best friend and is incredibly talented and has worked with me on many projects. My dad, also named Mark, planted the seeds of loving trees and nature in us from as far back as I can remember. You will see a common thread in all my work…nature. That comes from him. His love of trees and the great outdoors is a huge inspiration to me. My baby brother, Corey, now a husband and father to my adorable nephew, Oaklen, is also an entrepreneur and owns a very successful business with his wife, my sister-in-love, Natasha. When I need great advice, guidance and a pep talk, I call them. Chances are they have experienced it and can offer great insight. Each of them play an integral role in my business and life and I credit them for my successes.
