We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Martini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dan, how do you think about risk?
Risk is inevitable in the music business you have to be prepared for it. there is no guarantee or sure plan that’s what we love. Its thrilling. we believe as a unit that if something excites you enough its worth the risk! if you approach life and you always ask yourself “what if?’ are you really living? this concept pushes us to look at risk and tackle it head on. we understand that risk can make or break a career in the music industry, but you won’t know if you don’t try. The best lessons come from taking risk and has lead us down path of ultimate sonic bliss! it has allowed us to see things we never thought were possible, meet people of all ages, personalities, races. risk allowed us to bring music to the stage that were once empty. its a exciting thing.. so take the risk and don’t question it, just enjoy the ride you might just be amazed at the choice you made.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up music was always apart of my life. I’ve always had a strong tie to rock music, whether it be punk, hard rock, classic there was something that resonated with me and gave me freedom. so playing guitar and finding SURGE just seemed to gel with me. Music requires effort and a lot of it, it’s not as easy as it seems there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes on before you play one note on stage, but the way to make sure you get there is effort. That’s what it comes down to. the biggest lesson in music that I learned that is that you really have to love what you are doing even on the days it’s not fun… and some days it wont be, but its so rewarding after all the work is done. if you should take anything away from me or my Band SURGE its that’s we truly do love what we do and we want nothing, but to put on the hardest hitting rock N roll show on possible

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
throughout my traveling to different towns there is one spot in Dallas I would recommend to everyone and that’s dicky’s Barbeque pit. possibly the best I’ve ever had! I’d recommend the night life if you are looking to hang out, supporting local music is huge and you can make a difference in artist who are out working. places like Reno’s chop shop, six strings, and many more! the people in these clubs are some of the best you will ever meet and the music is all a added bonus!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! My Family has always been supportive from the get go, they taught me from the beginning that if I had a passion to follow it. I knew guitar was the only thing I wanted to do, so they pushed me to be the best I could without them playing stages would be just another thing I would dream about. it’s funny to think that most parents would encourage a “real job” or school but there is a crazy world of music out there just waiting for you to explore and they really allowed me to search for it. also with out Surge id be nothing this band has taken me places and have shown me some crazy thing and allowed me to learn and grow.
