We had the good fortune of connecting with Shilwatso Manyengo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shilwatso, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor is my passion and hard work . Yooh one thing I’ve learnt about running a success business is the fact that you have to really be passionate because you experience so many ups and downs, and that passion is what will push you to keep going no matter how hard it gets. Also the hard work automatically comes with the passion. Working hard and having your own makes you push harder and become successful.

Cake Dungeon is actually a home based business , Fun fact my brother came up with the name , he said watso cakes and pastries is too cliche,,lol. It was born in 2020 as a just for fun thing but became a business in 2021. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown , I can’t compare my first cake to now and also I’m very proud of my sales , it’s so surreal. I’m excited to see what this business has in store for me and how far I’ll go. I got to where I am because of hard work and passion, sleepless nights too. One thing I can assure you , it wasn’t easy at all , at some point I stopped posting so it became harder for me to get clients but I got back to my zoom. Then you meet very different clients. I overcame the challenges by standing on business , you learn not everyone is your client and make peace with that . Some lessons I’ve learnt so far are , stand on what you believe, not everyone is your client, give your work your all , work hard one day itajipa , God’s timing is the best , save your money, invest back to your business , social media is your friend, post your work and so many more. I want the world to know that I’m 23, successful and a boss babe , I’m juggling between university and a business so I’m the girl I think I am 😅also I’m going to be so successful , I don’t think the world is ready . My cake business is going to be one of the best in Kenya .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family 🥹 they deserve the biggest shout out . These people literally stay up late at night just to help me , they deliver for me when I can’t , they help me calig names(my brother especially) , and wash dishes for me when I can’t . I love them and they are my biggest hype people .
