We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first thought of starting a business, I wanted to develop a concept that took on social media marketing in a different way among my competitors. From the clients I wanted to take on, my own brand aesthetic to the strategies I used to create innovative content for their audiences, everything was a process. It was incredibly important for me to not only build my clients’ brands, but build my own brand in an industry that is extremely saturated. ARC represents innovation and executing a vision for my clients’ to have their stories amplified on social media and beyond!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Storytelling and helping people have always been passions of mine. I feel as though marketing has allowed me to execute both of those passions in my work! While attending Texas Christian University, I took the first opportunity to gain experience in the professional field. From working with the Tom Joyner Foundation, Star Media Agency to Bravo TV, my objective was to familiarize myself with all the tools necessary to craft impactful narratives and learn how to utilize social media in today’s industry. One of the main things that sets me apart is that I love to learn new things constantly. I always want to know not only how to make myself better, but how I can enhance my skills to help others as well! Working in my career field and starting my own business was never an easy path. However, it is so rewarding to see how much I’ve grown since taking my internship role. I’ve learned that no dream is too small and it’s so important to collaborate with your network to be successful. A. Renee Consulting is a testimony to that!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas has definitely become the “place to be” in Texas! If I had to recommend a few places, I would say: visit the Dallas Museum of Art or Kylde Warren Park, shop at Highland Park Village, dinner at Nobu Dallas (my all-time favorite) or Kitchen + Kocktails. Also, if in season, definitely check out a Dallas Mavericks game!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I think of the creation and success of my business, the first people I have to shoutout are my parents. Being a business owner and non-profit founder themselves, they have shown me that I could do anything I put my mind to! They embody what it means to be fearless leaders who are determined to help anyone around them. Secondly, I would shoutout my first agency internship lead, Sierra Tuthill, CEO & Founder of The Star Media Agency! Seeing another fellow TCU Alumni start her own business in the marketing field and execute every client project she took on motivated me to start my own business. She was intentional about showing me how to strategize for client projects and the importance of innovative content development.
