We had the good fortune of connecting with Regina Dehoney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Regina, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Some may be unaware that I have never tasted my cakes and I have no idea what they taste like.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
To be honest this business fell into my lap, I had never baked a cake or anything from scratch before. I just wanted to surprise my husband with a chocolate cake for our anniversary and that cake turned into a request to make other cakes and since I didn’t eat cake I had to reach out to people who ate didn’t flavors of cake to test the cakes that I had baked to make sure they were good and then later my cousin said you should do vegan cakes and I was thinking I have no idea about vegan, so I did my research and I began doing vegan and I researched more and began doing diabetic friendly cakes and researched more and began doing gluten-free cakes and that’s where I am now. It wasn’t easy at all because I wanted to go to school but I didn’t qualify for a grant or any loans and I was on a fixed income and it would have been too expensive for me to pay out of pocket so I had to put in the work and teach myself how to bake. I’ve learned that any thing is possible if you have the determination and drive to do it, I was turned away by culinary schools, I had been turned down for grants and loans but I did it with little money and experience but I’m doing it, I’m doing it, The word IMPOSSIBLE means “I’M POSSIBLE

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of the must see spots for me would be the Dallas Aquarium, Pappadeux on Lemmon Ave they have the best bartenters there, Greenville Ave to the Dallas by Chocolate Tour and The Pecan Lounge on Main Street to name a few

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank all my friends, family and those in between specifically my taste testers for their honest feedback on my cakes so I could create the best cake possible.
