We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, how has your work-life balance changed over time?

Great Question, I’m located in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and surrounding area. As a Host and recently named Ambassador for AAALAC African American Authors Literacy Awareness Campaign Book Tour and Expo. I’m an Author and motivational supporter, as for new and small Black business focus here in Fort Worth, Texas. I manage B’galz Boutique, a licensed Insurance Consultant for 15+ States, including burial. I’m a Mother, Wife, and grandmother. It began years ago however the stepping stone was thrown, In 2021, I had my first battle with Thyroid Cancer and started doing things I had dreamed of. I hosted several educational events and a successful Cancer awareness breakfast with an associate, where we honored many types of cancer warriors. No doubt the most challenging thing in my life has helped me become the most successful. Here’s Today the essence of balance, after round 3 and being hospitalized for over 20 days due to complications of this Thyroid cancer journey, I am looking forward to my next chapter and I love sharing my story. Outside of hosting, I have self-published several books available on Amazon and Kindle, and in local DFW libraries and bookstores

I have more time to accomplish goals and set new ones. The only set back is having to endure the types of treatment needed to place a hold on the cancer returning, direct radiation to my neck. I’ve started trying to eat better to live longer and thats when I need the community to participate. I’m working on 501c3 Non profit have several 3 platforms I use to provide to those in need and we will be hosting The colorfulworld of cancer Brunch September 14th Fort Worth Texas Location TBA there’s so many different forms of cancer we will celebrate the warriors and overcomers of this thing…We’re seeking supporters, Business Owners, Vendors on all area’s to help make this a success.
I intend to continue the work set before me to help others and pour into our youth soon by publishing my first Children’s book, more details to follow.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well certainly a challenge to keep up with my mind racing a hundred miles an hour. What sets me apart from others is I took a chance On myself and I didn’t waver, I’ve seen an opportunity to create and also gain a financial status for myself because as I was healing from cancer I was terminated from my job that I was working at almost 10 years and it gave me a sense of disengagement for the workforce. Therefore, I took it upon myself to educate myself more and that’s where I came in to play with the opportunity to help people with burial services and helping with arrangements if I need to but most importantly giving them the courage and the Tangible acquirement to receive some type of coverage. Some plans can be expensive and the questions are there, I help gain a sense of accessibility and guide as needed. Most of us have health conditions that will not give us life insurance if we haven’t already had insurance prior to the illness. With that being said it opened a lot of doors for me and gave me a new outlook on a lot of things, everything that I have bumped my head with I can givevdirection to the next person, iron shapens iron. Obtaining financial wellness outside my retirement funds and, growing to know and do better, I teach others. I’ve accomplished this as healing and while continuing to live the accustomed life I was prior to cancer. The life lessons, I hold dear includes saving money, investing and really preparing for a rainy day. I have written down and taken notes to create a brochure that’s gonna help others in a time of need, we never know when and how the rainy day comes, therefore, preparation and accessible resources will help. Buiding the brand comes from helping others we support those less fortunate through Operation Warm and Cozy we pass out blankets, gloves, socks and hygiene products, there’s always an opportunity to help our neighbors.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, they say everything is bigger in Texas. I would certainly take them to Biggest Baddest Smokehouse I know, and that would be Smoke-A-Holics BBQ Fort Worth holds the key to BBQ by way of the Walkers family. We’d have to Walk that off at The Doc Bookshop, finding one of my releases and others to read later then I’d also, swing by club Riskys for a enjoyful evening with music dancing and spirits. Then next day Breakfast Brothers in Arlington, a visit ro the finest Library Forest Hill Public Library and visit Michael Hardrck and Team, a lil rest then off to lunch I’d take them to B&B Butchers Restaurant off of Hulen in Fort Worth some of the finest Wagu, upclass in your face service. To wind down a quick evening play at the Jubilee Theatre located on Main st and catch a night cap at the Scat Jazz Lounge, the next morning for a good fresh Breakfast muffin and great service at Black Coffee on Vaughn the heart of Fort Worths Wesleyan’s College attraction for great conversation before departing.
