We had the good fortune of connecting with Shimberlyn Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shimberlyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I initially began Chateau Shimmy’s because a coworker moved away. She would always make sweet treats for me and when she left I didn’t want to pay anyone else to do it. I have been cooking for myself since I was 12yrs and it progressed with age. Why pay someone to do what you can do on your own was my thought.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hey there my name is Shimberlyn Walker and I am the owner of Chateau Shimmy’s catering company and Shopping With Shimmy, Inc. I am also a local comedian in DFW area

At Chateau Shimmy’s we put joy into every treat we make. Whether it is a full spread or Valentine’s Day treat we will make you fall in love. I have been in business now 9yrs and I started it because I didn’t want to pay anyone else to make chocolate covered strawberries. Funny right?! Well here I am 9yrs later with business booming. My busiest times are Valentine’s Day and Christmas. From chocolate hearts to chocolate Christmas trees we’ve got you covered. We do party planning and decor as well.

Shopping with Shimmy started in the midst of Covid in 2020. Black and Brown neighborhoods were scarce with disinfectant supplies. I lived in a predominantly Caucasian community and supplies were overflowing. I partnered with local grocery stores to shop for supplies for the elderly and scarce neighborhoods. I only charged a delivery fee of $7, which I used to buy school supplies for children in those same communities. I have the spiritual gift of service abs I make great use of my gift by helping others.

So whenever your sweet tooth is in flames, a sweet sixteen party is giving you the blues or you just need someone to shop for you please hit me up anytime!!!

I began my comedy career as a dare. I wasn’t the class clown or anything like that growing up but I was quick with comebacks against bullies. I have always been able to turn a phrase to make people laugh. A friend came to me and said “I dare you to take it to the next level” and as of February 18, 2018 I have been perfecting my craft. My 1st comedy show was a comedy contest in Scottsdale AZ and I won 2nd place. I was originally Shimmy2.0 but with the help of my friend JD Williams we turned that into Shimmy2Point0 to be more distinctive. I just recently celebrated my 6th Comic-versary and I’m not looking back!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
All of my friends favorite spot is my kitchen. Not to be vain but they all love my Cooking. Being a party helps out so much bc I have a creative flair for design and culinary taste. If we were to hang out in the city it would be random and out of the box. I don’t really have favorite places in the city to be bc there’s so much to do. DFW always has something new happening. If I had to pick a favorite restaurant I would say Red Claw in Arlington. Me and my friend’s all love seafood so that’s the perfect place

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout to my mom, who passed away Sept 2022. She was always my biggest supporter in all of my random life and career decisions. I keep moving for her. She will continue to be my strength
