We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris and Meredith Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris and Meredith, how do you think about risk?
We fully believe that in life, one should take risks. Nothing worth having ever seems to be easy, and most all things we now have took risk to get it. We truly agree with the old adage “No risk, no reward.” How will you ever know what will be, if you don’t try, if you don’t go for it, if you don’t take that risk? You will always wonder what could’ve been. We only get one life, so go for it. Even if you fail, you tried and that in itself is success. You just get up and try again. That takes courage and bravery. Taking risks is how we got were we are today, and we are so happy we did. We look forward to more risk taking in the future!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In the world of frozen desserts, there’s a lot of ices to choose from and there are so many delicious brands out there. We are honored to be in a group of such wonderful creatives. We believe what sets us apart from other brands, is our unique flavors and the years of research and dedication looking for superior ingredients to make our flavors as gourmet and delicious as humanly possible. Our proprietary variations on old favorites and our unique twist on the strange and unusual (like our Goat Cheese & Honey for a yummy example) makes our ice cream notable and gossip worthy. We also create delicious adult-only flavors which are sinfully delicious. Our creamy and decadent Caramelized Whiskey is a fan favorite. 😋 We are extremely proud of what we have grown with our business. We started from absolute scratch. We built it from the ground up and boot strapped everything. We had a grand vision, but had no idea when we’d get to where we are now. We are so humble and proud of how far we’ve come and are very excited for the future. When we first started, we knew we had heavy competition and we wanted to be sure we could compete in the homemade ice cream market. Therefore, we brought in different ice cream from all over, both local and national brands. We blindly rotated in our own ices and when our patrons began navigating towards ours, we knew we had something. From there we discontinued carrying outside ices and started on our journey to manufacturing all the ices in house for our retail customers, restaurants, hotels and etc. It has definitely not been easy, but like we said before, nothing worth having is. It’s been a long road of determination, dedication, little sleep, laughter and celebrations. Growth takes time and sheer will to keep walking towards the light at the end of the tunnel. We overcame obstacles by not allowing them to stop us or slow us down. We believe that is how you succeed and we’ve learned over the years that hard work, big dreams and dedication will lead you to success. We don’t believe there are shortcuts in life and you have to sacrifice. We want people to know that our ice cream is not only made with happiness, passion and love, but also with courage, drive and commitment to making our products as seamless and delicious as possible. At the end of the day, we truly want people to feel better after eating our ice cream. We want to spread joy!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Rowlett, we would absolutely take them to Bankhead Brewery. Great food, excellent beer, amazing vibe and awesome folks that work there! From there we’d meander to Snuffer’s for a gorgeous view of downtown from afar, and finish off at Gloria’s on the lake. It’s an absolutely beautiful place to watch the sunset. We’d spend the next day in Dallas at Highland Park Village. We would start at Honor Bar for glass of rosé and have some of their delicious house made fries. It has an amazing ambience and it’s a fun place to sit outside. Then we would move on to the beautiful rooftop patio at Mi Cocina. Lastly in the Village, we would go to Bistro 31 for some of their delicious sushi rolls. If we are feeling like having a late night, we would take them to the Mansion at Turtle Creek for live music and dancing!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We both come from families with entrepreneurial backgrounds. Both of our parents have owned businesses and we were very inspired by watching them and learned a lot about what it takes to own and operate a business. Our family and friends are also very supportive of our business and were so encouraging and excited for us when we began our journey 6 years ago. We are very blessed to have such a wonderful support system. We are also each other’s biggest cheerleader, so that doesn’t hurt either!
