We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process is my passion for baking and traveling. It led me to explore delicious pastries abroad but also inspired me to share these culinary delights with my community in Dallas. By introducing my spin on these international flavors, I’m offering tasty treats but creating a bridge between places, connecting my city with the places I’ve been. Through my baked creations, I want to encourage a sense of adventure and promoting the idea that travel can be experienced through the palate, sparking curiosity and a desire to explore different cultures. My journey is not just about baking; it’s a delightful invitation to travel, taste, and connect with the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My full-time job gives me the flexibility, time, and resources I need to try and be successful in my business. The challenge is making sure I plan out my day when I have orders, ensuring my full-time job gets the attention it needs. During slow periods, I can make cookie dough or pie filling. It’s finding that balance that makes all the difference. This job is a blessing that brings me joy to be able to pursue my passion! The goal is for my passion for baking to become the main character of my story. ‘The Traveling Spoon’ will be in a city near you one day!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
What a good question! This actually happened to me earlier this year. I took my friend to most of these places on this list. All these are great places to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh yes! I have such a strong and close support system that includes my family and friends. They have been a HUGE help during this whole process! Being able to bounce ideas, have food tastings, and get some great advice has made a significant difference!
