We had the good fortune of connecting with Arlicia Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arlicia, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Positive Path Foundation came to me when I recognized a critical gap in our community’s healthcare services. As I observed the increasing prevalence of HIV and the general lack of awareness about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among youth and young adults, I felt compelled to take action.
The idea for an HIV clinic dedicated to youth and young adults was born from this realization. It was evident that our younger community members were not receiving the education and resources they needed to protect themselves and make informed decisions about their sexual health.
I saw an opportunity to create a safe and supportive environment where young individuals could access accurate information, receive counseling, and get tested for HIV and other STIs without fear or stigma. The vision was to not only address healthcare needs but also promote comprehensive sexual health education and mental well-being.
This idea evolved into a concrete plan, and with the support of like-minded individuals, we founded Positive Path Foundation . I designed the clinic to be youth-friendly, culturally sensitive, and technologically advanced, ensuring that it caters to the unique needs and preferences of this demographic.
Through Positive Path Foundation
, we have been able to reach and educate thousands of young people, provide essential healthcare services, and reduce the stigma associated with HIV and STIs. It’s been a rewarding journey, knowing that we are making a real difference in the lives of youth and young adults who might have otherwise been left uninformed and underserved.
This experience has reinforced my belief in the power of innovation and problem-solving to address critical community needs. It has taught me that with dedication, collaboration, and a commitment to improving the well-being of others, we can create positive change even in the face of significant challenges.”
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In a world marked by challenges and adversity, Positive Path Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, a testament to resilience, and a sanctuary of unwavering compassion. What sets us apart from the rest is not just our commitment to healthcare but our unwavering dedication to the individuals and communities we serve.
I am most excited about the comprehensive care, support, and hope to those living with HIV/AIDS. I knew that our mission was not just to treat the disease but to heal the hearts and spirits of our patients. My journey was driven by a burning desire to make a difference, to change the narrative surrounding HIV/AIDS, and to eradicate the stigma that shrouded it. I embarked on a mission to educate, empower, and elevate the lives of individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
My path was not without hurdles. We encountered skepticism, faced financial constraints, and grappled with the pervasive ignorance and stigma that surround this condition. But every challenge became an opportunity. I overcame financial hurdles through the unwavering support of our community and the tireless dedication of our team.
My greatest lessons came from our patients, who taught us the profound importance of empathy, understanding, and the courage to live life to its fullest, despite the challenges. Their strength in the face of adversity has been a humbling and inspiring force, driving us to be better, to do more, and to never give up.
Today, Positive Path Foundation not just a healthcare facility; it’s a haven for hope and healing. It’s a place where the word ‘stigma’ is replaced with ‘compassion,’ where ignorance is transformed into understanding, and where every patient is not just a medical case but a cherished member of our family.
My story is one of transformation, of turning adversity into advocacy, and of celebrating the indomitable human spirit. I want the world to know that HIV/AIDS is not just a medical condition; it’s a community of resilient individuals who refuse to be defined by their diagnosis. I stand alongside them, providing not just healthcare but love, support, and a brighter future.
Positive Path Foundation is a symbol of hope, a testament to unity, and a place where every day is marked by courage, compassion, and the unwavering belief that together, we can conquer anything.
My journey, though challenging, has been profoundly rewarding. I invite the world to join us on this path toward a future where HIV/AIDS is not just a diagnosis but a chapter in a story of triumph, love, and resilience.
Together, we can change the world, one life at a time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my best friend comes to visit, it’s not just about showing them a good time; it’s about creating unforgettable memories together. We’d start the day with a scenic hike at At Prayer Mountain in the nearby mountains, taking in breathtaking views and reconnecting with nature. Afterward, we’d explore the charming streets of our town, stopping at Soirée Coffee Bar local cafes for delicious treats and artisanal coffee. The evening would be reserved for Vidorra restaurant in Deep Ellum for a taste of Tex-Mex cuisine and large selection of tequilas and cocktails. And as the night settles at Gallery Rooftop Lounge at The Canvas we’d head to the rooftop, stargazing, and sharing our dreams under the vast, starlit sky viewing Downtown Dallas. It’s about cherishing the simple joys of life and celebrating the bond of friendship in the most extraordinary way possible.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I extend our heartfelt gratitude and deep respect to the individuals living with HIV for their remarkable resilience and unwavering spirit. Their strength in the face of adversity is an inspiration to us all. Their journey of living and thriving despite challenges is a powerful testament to the human spirit’s ability to overcome. Let us recognize and applaud the unwavering strength, resilience, and courage of individuals living with HIV. Their journey is a testament to the triumph of the human spirit, inspiring us all to face challenges with grace and determination. In summary, opening an HIV clinic is motivated by a deep sense of responsibility, compassion, and a commitment to addressing the unique healthcare needs of individuals living with HIV. It is a reflection of the belief that healthcare is a fundamental right, and everyone deserves access to quality care and support, regardless of their HIV status.
