In this chapter of my journey, I have dedicated myself to reconnecting with my Mexican heritage. I seek a profound understanding of the significance of knowing one’s roots. As a proud great-granddaughter of an immigrant from Michoacan, Mexico, I strongly feel pride in my cultural background. Our heritage and traditions are invaluable treasures that deserve to be cherished and celebrated. Despite the challenges we may face, we possess inherent strength and resilience. Our legacy is powerful, and our voices deserve to be heard.

Our family business, Joe T. Garcia’s, has gathered people around our family table since 1935.
The act of gathering around the table is where authentic connections are forged, stories are shared, and bonds are strengthened in these moments. An undeniable magic happens when loved ones come together to break bread and share in the joy of each other’s company.

Growing up, I was taught the value of these gatherings, and now, as I navigate through life, I find myself drawn to the warmth and familiarity of the family table. It is where laughter echoes, and love is palpable in the air.

It is the company of friends that genuinely inspires me. Around the family table, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by diverse individuals who bring unique perspectives, experiences, and stories. Each person adds a vibrant thread to the tapestry of our conversations, enriching our understanding of the world and broadening our horizons.

One of the elements that adds a touch of enchantment to these gatherings is the presence of tequila. As we sip on this beloved Mexican spirit, it becomes a catalyst for deeper conversations and a symbol of celebration. Among the many tequilas I appreciate, Tears of Llorona has captured my heart with its exquisite taste and rich history.

When it comes to tequila brands, my current go-to’s are Lalo, Fortaleza, Casa Dragones, La Pulga, and Mijenta. Meet my parents, Jody and Lanny Lancarte, a couple whose unwavering commitment, shared values, and dedication to the family have created a legacy worth celebrating.

It all started at Northside High School, where fate brought them together. Introduced by Uncle David, their connection was instant, and little did they know that this encounter would begin a lifelong journey filled with love, joy, and unwavering support.

One of the secrets to their enduring love is their daily breakfast routine. This simple act of sharing a meal sets the tone for their day, allowing them to connect on a deeper level and strengthen their bond. You can find them most mornings at Righteous Foods or Paris Coffee Shop, reading the paper, drinking coffee, and discussing the agenda for the day.

My parents exemplify the true meaning of partnership. They have always approached life as a team, supporting each other through thick and thin. Their unwavering commitment to one another has been the driving force behind their successful journey. By facing challenges together and celebrating victories as a united front, they have shown us the power of teamwork in a relationship.

At the core of my parent’s love story is their unwavering dedication to family. They have instilled in their children and grandchildren the importance of cherishing and nurturing family bonds. Every Sunday, they gather their loved ones for a traditional family dinner, creating a space where love, laughter, and cherished memories are shared. 

They possess a unique ability to create beauty in everything they do. Their love for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere is evident from how they decorate their home to their attention to the most minor details. This artistic approach to life has enriched their relationship and inspired those around them to find beauty in the simplest of things.

I celebrate the unwavering love, guidance, and sacrifices made by my parents, two remarkable individuals who have played an instrumental role in shaping my life. Their dedication, work ethic, and unwavering support have left an indelible mark on my heart and soul journey, inspiring me to embrace creativity, adventure, and passion.
