We had the good fortune of connecting with Simone Pierre-Louis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simone, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I enjoy shopping and getting dressed up. Whether it was just going for a Target run, church, or going for drinks with the girls; I would always dress to impress. People always ask me do I shop everyday and my answer is always no. I like to mix and match what I have in my closet. Every now and then I will shop for a shirt, pants, shoes, skirt, or jewelry then match it with something that I already have in my closet. One day a friend of mine asked me to style her for a date. She didn’t have enough money at the time to shop for a whole outfit. Due to me already knowing her style, I went to her closet found a cute little black dress. She had jewelry to match but didn’t have heels to make the dress pop. So we went to a shoe store where all the shoes are $10-$20 and she found some heels that completed the outfit. It was in that moment I realized I could turn this into a business. So I did! The way I style my clients is the same way I like to style myself. You don’t always have to go out shopping and spend lots of money to achieve an amazing outfit.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I love to do in house and out of house styling. In house styling consist of me styling you out of your closet only. Out of house styling can go two ways, 1. we can find one or however many items out of your closet and I go out and get peaces that’ll complete the outfit. 2. I go out and shop for your whole outfit. One of the questions I get the most is, do I know how to style men and women that are plus size? Yes, I do. At first I found it a little challenging. I didn’t know where to go to shop. I had found out some clothes from some online stores are not true to size sometimes. After I did a little research I now know where to shop. One of the things I love most about styling is the reaction of the client. The confident that the finish product brings to the client lets me know I’ve done my job!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Prior to me going full time with my styling business, I was in a very bad car accident. I lost my car and job all in one month. During that time I also found out who was down for me genuinely and who wasn’t. The RIGHT people in your life can make your journey a lot easier and the course of your path as narrow as it should. My husband came to me one day and encouraged me to start posting styling pictures on Instagram, as a fresh start back into styling. Anybody that knows me knows I love to mix and match, so my posts were about showing how the style one item three to four different ways. Once I started posting, It brought me a lot of clients. One client in particular, she is a dope singer out of Houston Tx. Her name is Brittney Balma. I was honored every time I got to style her. One of my favorite moments was when she performed on Great Day Houston. For that event I was her hairstylist and wardrobe stylist. Everything came out AMAZING and she loved how it all came together. Not only did she love it but others loved it and they booked me for their next engagements. With that being said I want to say a big thank you to my husband Joe Williams (Joe Trumpet) and Brittney Balma for all of your love and support!!!
