We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Hunsinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jake, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to play my brand of country music, so my only thought process was how to make it profitable as an independent artist. The art always existed and if I didn’t start this business, I would still be creating. All business strategy at the beginning came down to being profitable with a clear growth trajectory without compromising on my artistic integrity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since I was a kid, I’ve struggled with communication. I practiced this through songwriting because I wanted to connect more deeply with folks and to understand myself better. Learning how to say something the right way in a song was my goal. I gravitated towards American Country music because, to me, it is designed to make efficient points and tell layered stories in an appealing and open way. My stage show is built around a similar idea, functioning as open dialogue between me and the folks listening. My humor and sincerity are openly shared in these moments, and it’s what I’ve always wanted out of life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the Stockyards Saloon strip. Rhinestone and Filthy McNastys support artists well and always are a good time. Stockyards in general is a wonderful place to find dinner and entertainment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this to my parents who pushed me to pursue my work and gave me the skills to do it successfully. My bandmates Zack Wedge, Jamie Doyle, and Andrew Donnelly as well producer George Dussault. My beautiful girlfriend Catherine has been a driving force in growing the business and wonderful companion and confidant.
