We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashton Charlebois and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashton, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always gravitated towards anything artistic ever since I could remember. I was always into drawing as a kid, but as I got older, I got into “digital art” when I was in sixth grade and that was where I learned Photoshop. That class opened the door for me to grow in this newfound skill. I learned how to edit photos, edit videos and eventually this lead to me getting my own camera and shooting my own pictures and editing them. I knew that this is where my passion lay and this is why I chose to pursue this as a career.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am in the process of owning my own company called “Ashton Charlebois Media” or ACM for short. I feel like i’m different from the others because I am mostly self taught and started from the ground up and dabble with all sorts of media! Hence why I consider myself to be a multi media artist. It wasn’t always easy, learning some of these programs was pretty difficult at times. I didn’t give up and continued to learn and grow. I learned that being patient is the biggest lesson I learned. I want everyone to know that if you have a dream or passion that makes makes you happy, never hesitate to follow that.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in the city would have to be FireWheel Mall, Nordstrom Mall, and the dam. There’s lots to do in in the malls, like shopping and hanging out, but I have a bit of a country side to myself and love to hang out at the dam. It’s peaceful to be out and hear the sound of water and I love to go fishing! I love to eat at the local food trucks, street tacos are the best!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friend, Matthew who is an artist himself and my childhood best friend. He always encouraged me to be creative and grow. We used to draw characters in class together and would create storylines and things to create digital edits for. He was there for me in very crucial parts growing up and without him, I don’t think I would’ve grown the way that I did.
