We had the good fortune of connecting with Baeja Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Baeja, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting your own business was, “Why not?” “Why not me?” I pride myself in being a diligent and hard worker for any company I work for. One day, on a very tiresome day, at my desk job, I thought to myself, “All this work, all these long hours that I’m putting in for this company. Why not put that same energy towards something that you are passionate about? Start something of your own.” So, I started taking those steps to doing just that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my ability to converse with any and everybody. I enjoy listening to people express themselves and am able to make a connection with a person just by listening. I’m most proud of my marriage and excited for the future of my business and marriage. Experiences, lessons, failures, and successes has gotten me where I am today professionally. It was not easy at all and it still has its challenges, but by being honest with myself I’ve been able to recognized my strengths and weaknesses and use them in a way that will push me closer to my goals. I’ve learned that I need people to help me achieve my goals and most of the time people are willing to help before I even ask. However, don’t be afraid to ask for help. I’ve learned that by being honest with myself about my goals, strengths, and weakness I am able to have a clear perspective and direction on where it is I’m trying to go for my career, my marriage, my self growth, and even friendships. What I want the world to know about me and my story is that I’m building my own version of being at the “top”. Although, everyone’s “top” may look different from each other, there’s room at the top for anyone willing to put in the work. What’s your “top” look like?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Considering that I’ve only been in the DFW for 2 years, I honestly haven’t been to many places. I would take my best friend to Maple Leaf Diner for some breakfast, check out a nature trail for an afternoon walk, go swimming after, have some lunch at a cool sushi bar, and then end the night with a comedy show or experience the night life of dancing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Shaquan Morris, who is also a business owner. My husband has always strived for getting the job done right, no excuses, and limitless motivation. I’ve never met someone that is so determined like my husband. He really pushes making dreams become a reality to another level. Truly, a great partner, coach, mentor, and friend that I have on my side.
