We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray Floyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ray, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I felt as if my soul was pushing me to jump in to this Music world, I always pictured myself on stage as a DJ in front of thousands of people playing the hottest dance records, but it never occurred to me how those records became records, little did I know DJ’s DO have an artistic/creative touch, in music production. So not only did I want to be a DJ playing hit records from the radio, but also a DJ playing his OWN records, i want you to feel how I feel while you listen back to a record I made from within my soul a certain vibration that can’t be duplicated. Out there on the dance floor that’s it right there.. the people movin & groovin, that’s the reason why I pursue this artistic career, I wanna see the people movin & groovin.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The music I create comes from within myself, & of course a little inspiration from Hanging out with Friends, Attending Live Shows, & Partying Till the Early Morning, I feel if you be yourself and not pretend to be somebody your not I think that will definitely set you apart from others, being a good friend, support shows even if your not on the line up, sharing music from other artists that work so hard and barley get any recognition.
I’m most proud of releasing my song “Other Side” on Veridian Records, first song of mine to ever be on a label.

I wish it all started with the shows I’ve been doing now, but it didn’t. You start at the bottom and work your way up, first came the sweet sixteens, weddings, & family party’s all from 2013-2016
In late October of 2016 I created the persona “Ray Floyd” Using the combination of my middle name “Ray” and my favorite Progressive Rock band to this very day “Pink Floyd” I used the bands last name “Floyd” so from 2017-2023 Ive been establishing oh how to be bigger and better than the year before. I really hadn’t played an EDM show until late October 2020. I really feel I’ve only had success after that moment getting more show bookings getting recognized by the community & having peeps ask me when my next new song will be released. That’s such an awesome feeling to have as an artist.. when people actually care.

It was never easy between Work, Gym, Music Creation, Booking shows, Eating Right, Staying Up Late, Working for shows, making time for family & friends but I never let any of those things get in my way, I’d put myself where I needed to be and would put in the work the only way to overcome any challenges is to figure out the problem take it on headstrong and work your ass off for it, no one’s just ganna hand it to you, you really got to work for it.

The one lesson I have learned thus far is do not waste your time. Time is the only thing we can never get back take your time in whatever it is you’re doing take the time to do the research take your time in practicing your craft, but don’t waste your time always be doing something productive either for your art, or for yourself (drink water, clean up your room, go for a walk).

I would want the world to know that I’m here for a good time and not a long time so I hope to see your Beautiful faces on some magical dance floor some where around the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So here in the great city of San Antonio there are numerous places to check out during the day “Chicken & Pickle”, “The Pearl”, “North Star Mall”, “Six Flags” but the nightlife is where it’s at we have “Hotel Discotheque”, “Dizr”, “1902 Night Club”, “St Mary’s Strip”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
